Possibly, but certainly not yet. I really have no idea how much of Russia's box office is concentrated in Moscow, but I think it's a bigger share than either Shanghai or Beijing have. I mean, there are other cities like Shenzen and Guangzhou which are important as well.

Say Moscow accounts for 50-60% of Russia's box office, then the city's total for Avatar will probably be $50m or so. I don't think any single city will match that.

So apparently, we're in the same category as online dating scams.

I dunno, South Korea's total is at $55m now. How much does Seoul account for Korea's total? I would assume it'd be around as much as Moscow's share of Russia's total.

Even so, Moscow could have a smaller share and still have a larger gross. I don't think Moscow's gross is smaller than $39.2m as of now.

I actually thought he was talking about the date scam thing and thought it was amusing that you'd get that while looking for Russian Box Office. :funny:

It dropped 0.2% in its 4th week over here (Egypt)..

wtf?!?

Avatar's run in Egypt

1st week - 764,479 LE. (all time #6th biggest OW)
2nd week - 1,035,716 (+35%)
3rd week - 941,644 (-9%)
4th week - 939,577 (-0.2%)

All time biggest week looks like this;

1. Opening week of The Twilight Saga: New Moon - E£ 1.098m (on the Biggest Holiday Weekend of the Year)
2. Opening week of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - E£ 1.075m
3. 2nd week of Avatar - E£ 1.036m
4. 3rd week of 2012 - E£ 995k (on the Biggest Holiday Weekend of the Year)
5. Opening week of 300 - E£ 975k
6. 3rd week of Avatar - E£ 942k

8. Opening week of 2012 - E£ 825k
9. Opening week of Spider-Man 3 - E£ 802k
10. Opening week of Avatar - E£ 773k

As you can see, totally crazy

and I thought 'bringing down Titanic' was impossible..

Don't know about Avatar's breakdown yet, but for last December for example, Shanghai is accounted for 8-10% of the market share, and Beijing 10-12%.

Seeing that it is already crossed 0.93B overseas I think it has a good shot at 1.5B overseas.

The current Domestic total is headed for 650 but I have a hunch that it will do better after the award season in the Domestic markets as well. I think 750M there is possible but I am going for 700M for now.

1.5B overseas + 0.7B domestic = 2.2B Worldwide

Say Moscow accounts for 50-60% of Russia's box office, then the city's total for Avatar will probably be $50m or so. I don't think any single city will match that.

Box, contrary to some opinions it's not dead lands outside of Moscow. 50% is WAY TOO MUCH. I seriously don't think it's over 25%.

BOM is missing few small markets. That was confirmed by the admin(TomK). So they will always be few million off. We have to wait for updates from variet/screendaily for full OS numbers.

the-numbers could be the complete number.

Any chance for this to hit 1.1B as of sunday. I am thinking italy could hit high single or even double digits(if there are enough 3d screens). Plus may be 30-35% drop in holdovers should be enough to have another 120M OS.

I'm beginning to think $100m is possible in the UK... it's going to be very close.
