Re: Best Visual Effects 2009 The oscar is already in Avatar's hands. Take it to the bank. Of Cameron's 6 major motion pictures, 5 were nominated for visual effects and 4 won. The man is a trailblazer and I don't see things changing here, especially after what I saw on Avatar Day.

Malick utilizing heavy CGI is a concept I'm still struggling to wrap my mind around, but, at the same time, I can't see him settling for poor VFX. If the CG artistry blends well with his legendary eye for stunning imagery, it could definitely catch Oscar voters' eyes. Though, I s'pose it also depends on how long and important those dino sequences are. Because Avatar is in and Star Trek most likely too. Meaning that TF2 will have to fight 2012.
