Wouldn't it be something if both WB and Disney make aggressive Oscar pushes for HP7 and TS3. Both franchises deserve at least an Oscar nomination for best picture, as they really have had a tremendous impact on the industry.

Toy Story has its own category - Best Animated film. It will win that but no chance of Best Picture really unless its a dismal year for film quality wise.

HP7 has to be very good to get a best pic nom but because its the last - then it has a ROTK type chance (based on HP 3,4,5 and maybe 6 and 7).

Potter 7 won't get anywhere close to a Picture nom, no matter who directs it. LOTR had every film in the franchise get a BP nom, plus countless other noms. Potter has had nothing but tech and music noms. It's not gonna happen.

Why not release potter 3rd weekend of november like usual and give transformers july?

It's opening on the same weekend (weekend after Memorial Day) that Finding Nemo opened on.

New dates:

Yari Film Group's romcom The Accidental Husband, with Uma Thurman, Colin Firth and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, has been delayed from March 7 to August 15.

Baz Luhrmann's Australia, with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, will open November 14.

The Vince Vaughn-Reese Witherspoon comedy Four Christmases has been delayed two weeks from November 14 to November 26 (aka Thanksgiving weekend).

Good move for Four Christmases. It brings it closer to Christmas and it will make good use of the Thanksgiving Weekend.

Australia I dont see being a hit - but it wont hurt having it as counterprogramming to Potter.

Nice to see that Australia has a release date. My hopes are high for it even though I'm somewhat mixed on Baz Luhrman (I loved Moulin Rouge, but Romeo + Juliet was quite underwhelming).

2009 will be full of 3D films - Monsters Vs Aliens, Ice Age, Piranha, Avatar, Toy Story 1 and 2 etc. I wonder if the novelty will wear off quickly or if it will stick and thats how we will soon watch half the films released.

BTW - is this an all new Piranha? Didnt know it was being made.

Only if it can get some awards buzz. This film is more akin to Pearl Harbour meets Cold Mountain - set in the Aussie Outback - as a film.

Ive have been informed that the incredible hulk might be getting pushed back till december 17th, 2008. I think its a wednesday.

That would be a very good move, I think. December needed another big film, and if this is good, it can make more in December than in the crowded month of June.

That would actually be a smart move. With the summer already crowded and this film not having yet released any footage, teaser or trailer for the film it could work.

LOL seems like fox is treating max payne the same was as hitman except with a bigger actor.

As for hulk 2 that is an ok move but i was hoping for a summer release. Oh well now i have two movies to look forward to in december. TDTESS and HULK 2.

Thats a great move for The Hulk! December was lagging behind a little and that gives it a good boost.

Also good for Vegas.

im starting to doubt hulk, the guy just told me universal may not be able to complete the move due an agreement with merrill lynch, one of the films financers.

Weird release date for Max Payne, but then again, Hitman's release was fine for it and Payne will certainly be a bigger success. I see $50+ million for sure.
