xiayun wrote: Basically, if we assume the ratio between the two films stay relatively stable at 1.4-1.5:1, and give a ratio of 70 to Wall-E and 90 to Wanted, the ratio between the two's opening days would be 2:1. So our earliest projection: Wall-E - $30m, Wanted - $15m! 100m Wall-E 50m Wanted

Xiayun - is tracking the written reviews still helpful? It's been some time since the raw total has influenced the ratio any, and the written to overall ratios have been low for all recent openers. Do you agree that what the written reviews say has become more relevant than the actual number of them?

Re: Yahoo Review Thread - Wall-E, Wanted
This weekend is reminding me of July 15-17, 2005, which saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (family film) and Wedding Crashers (R-rated film aimed at young adults) combine for $90M between the two of them.
WALL-E and Wanted should both open higher than their respective comparisons, though.

When do you track Yahoo numbers until? It's 723 and 575 respectively now. Written are 17 and 28.

Well, LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD was rated PG-13 but genre-wise it's action vs. Pixar just like last year, same weekend... Another weekend that comes to mind (but with opposite ranks) is December 14th last year: $77.2m I AM LEGEND $44.3m ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS

It's certainly relevant to continue tracking written reviews; it's just that we haven't developed a similar read on it yet. And I'm not sure how the current trend of opening up the reviews earlier but not allowing written reviews until the regular time will affect the comparison.

Re: Yahoo Review Thread - Wall-E, Wanted
Since we are including the reviews from yesterday, and given the genre and Pixar's fanbase, I'd give a ratio of 80 to Wall-E and 120 to Wanted. That's put Wall-E on pace for $25m and Wanted for $16m.
