Sex and the City - 3146 (469), +151 (+31), B The Strangers - 312 (37), +15 (+1), B The written percentage remains reasonable, not indicating a ratio much higher than 200, if at all.

I know she has a sketchy reputation around here but Nikki Finke is saying "As of today alone, it's earned over $20M -- although that does include some presales." http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com/

The day isn't even over. They probably meant, "as of the time our source called us, this is how much it's made" with plenty left to rake in.

I think it can flirt with those high $30s for Friday, which would be enough to catapult it past $80m.

It doesn't mean it's not doing as great, but rather people are not so rushed to review it or give it fake reviews, as shown by the relatively low written percentage, thus a lower ratio.

Sex and the City - 3824 (630), +678 (+161), B The Strangers - 413 (73), +101 (36), B S&TC slowed a bit, are we still sure about a 200 ratio?

Re: Yahoo Review Thread - Sex and the City, The Strangers
I don't know about ratio mumbojumbos, but here's what I see for the new releases based on sellouts, crowd reports, intuition, etc. right now:
Sex and the City: 23 The Strangers: between 6 and 7

Xiayun, how's The Strangers doing? After all, Sex & the City wasn't the only movie to open

I really can't see The Strangers pulling in any more than $4M tonight - perhaps less.

Three different theaters around here only had it on one screen but added interlocks for the 10 and midnight shows because they sold out.

I just didn't see any buzz or hype for it. I asked some people at work and they didn't even know what it was. The guy who hated Indy and liked Made of Honor had it confused with Funny Games.

Re: Yahoo Review Thread - Sex and the City, The Strangers
Right now I see a 150 ratio and $28m for SATC, and $5m for The Strangers.

Re: Yahoo Review Thread - Sex and the City, The Strangers
A 5m opening day for The Strangers would lead to about 11M-13M for the weekend considering it's a horror movie and they always have bad multipliers opening weekend.
Still, definitely a success for Rogue Pictures, as such a weekend would be their highest opening in company history, no matter how pathetic that may seem.
Right now, their highest OW is Unleashed at $10,900,901.

Re: Yahoo Review Thread - Sex and the City, The Strangers
4148 looks like the final number.
I'm thinking that a 150 ratio or even slightly lower should be perfect.
$27-30 mil sounds right on.

$27-30 mil sounds right on. Fantasy Moguls has SATC at 28.5 mil opening day, so it looks like you were right.

Yahoo has been gangbusters lately! It had right about a 158 ratio.
