I gave a countdown of what actually DOES happen in the trailer. You were wrong, and that's it.

Jolie has another moment in the trailer when the car jumps towards the train, but the way it's edited makes it unclear who is driving the car.

Yeah, and because of that the movie flopped so badly. Jolie is served well only with crowd-appealing premise and as an addition to good cast. Alone she is not a draw at all.

It did not flop. What were you expecting for some CGI-action-fantasy flick. It doesn't exactly scream $3 billion.

A budget of $165 m making $195 m in theaters is a Flop.
It screamed at least $300 m if not that stupid positioning strategy "see Jolie's tits and ass in Real 3D". I've seen the movie in IMAX 3D and it was a truly great experience. And instead of selling that as an epic adventure with a unique 3D experience (as it actually was) they tried to sell it as a movie about Jolie and her tits and ass and how great they look in CGI and 3D. Nobody bought it. I'd say the movie flopped that badly primarily because they've advertised too much Jolie and too little Beowulf, making it less appealing.

Game. Set. Match.

It did not scream $300m to me. It screamed shit and WTF to me. I don't think CGI-fantasy is an in-thing.

it's not a flop. after tv licensing, dvd, blu-ray etc it will eventuatly make a profit. A film like Catwoman or The Invasion won't. Like i said, it's a disappointment.

If they will change their marketing and try to fool audience into believing that it's a film about Jolie kicking ass, I agree that it will at least open bigger.

But the problem is, it's not a film about Jolie. She is playing 3rd billing and it's a film about a nerd nobody has ever heard of playing an action hero. And they will have a really, really hard time trying to hide that.

McAvoy ain't Brad Pitt, as far as audience appeal goes.

Oh, actually it doesn't matter what it "did scream" to you and what do you think after a movie flopped months ago. It's easy to be a smart head after the fact. It is a flop. One of the biggest in years.

I think it was the right idea to make Jolie look like no more that just a supporting actress in the trailer (as she actually will be in a movie) - this gives a clear message that they are not going to sell shit in a fancy wrapping. This says that the movie will have something much more interesting than Jolie's "easy selling" and "universally appealing" tits and ass. I think she is becoming more of an anti-draw these days because they have overused this strategy.

Clearly you're not the smartest tool in the shed. I hate to bring this up, but I'm always right. Never wrong. Also it seems you know very little about the box office. you should leave it to the experts, like BJ.

btw, Evan Almighty cost $210m to make.

I'm not arguing with medically proven idiots, my friend. You can say whatever you want talking to yourself.

Really? This, a blockbuster?? I never saw more than $60 million for it. No one has any idea what it's about besides curving bullets. Looks like a Matrix ripoff.

Opening: $19 million
Total: $48 million

Maybe I'm totally wrong.

well lets use your words then.

Evan Almighty cost $210m^, made only $175m. Beowulf $185m with a $150m cost. One is already making (gross) profit, while one is yet in the black. You say the biggest in years. Evan Almighty was released in June, Beowulf in November. The last time i checked my Gregorian calendar, thats a 5 month difference.

I think that medically proves that you are a retard. yeah, a retard.

i rather be an idiot than a retard.

When a person says he is always right, this means that he is not only wrong, but Knows it.

A retard is a person who is ABLE to understand the logic, but not immediately. An idiot is a person who is NOT ABLE to understand the logic at all. It's better to be a retard than getluv, oh, sorry, I wanted to say "idiot", wasn't intend to offend your feelings (but anyway, my dictionary says these are synonyms used interchangeably).

Not in.

I heard that Jolie is box office poison, and from seing some of her films, and the last film she was in Beowulf, proves that she pretty much is.

The concept looks interesting, but i get the feeling of matrix or equilibrium from this movie, dont know why.

I say: Lucky to reach 100m?

Hey, if Cloverfield couldnt do it, then i doubt this will.

65m, tops?

the trailer playing with Jumper was one of the coolest things basically ever.

but this has little chance at $100m, let alone $170m.

Nope. I think this might be another Jumper though, just with better legs if it at least makes some bit of sense.

$32/$94
