Not only is he quite deserving, but he had two other performances this year that were (apparently) just as good. So the Academy will give him the nomination as a way of awarding him for all of his work.

It's absolutely heartbreaking watching her misery as she tries to figure out some kind of way to atone for what happened years earlier. But seeing as there's been absolutely no buzz for her, there's no chance that it happens.

Or maybe we're already one step ahead and nobody really cares anymore about filling the "quota" - they're looking past black and white! Riiight..
