I really can't believe how much was unresolved. What happened to Palmer? What happened to the Logans? What happened to Milo's brother? And the biggest one of all, the one that lasted the whole season: why did the Chinese let Jack go in the first place? They never explained that at all. So disappointing.

That was both a very powerful ending, and a very lame one. Again, only the current 24 writers could do shit like this. Jack going ape shit on heller was fantastic. The ending scene was the most powerful in 24 history. Jack looking out over the water knowing he can't look up. He can only look down due to the unfortunate circumstances in his life. Very moving.

I liked the ending. Man, I hope they bring Doyle back, that was absurd.
Well at least they're not forced to make a story based on a cliffhanger next year, this year was good, but kind of sloppily put together. I think the writers put them in a hole last time. This time they can sit down and come up with a very good and well fleshed out story, as well as continuing maimage.
But man, Buchanon has to retire, as does Karen. Milo was dead, and Doyle is going to be at least blind in one eye. They did certainly build up the idea that they are going to leave the CTU seen, or the current setting.

Thank God this thing is OVAH.
And apparently, it sucked in the ratings.
Wake-up call...

Yeah... I think I said over at BOM years ago that I'd still watch a so-so 24 and actually enjoy it, despite criticisms.

I still think this entire season should've been Jack escaping from China. They should've gone global, baby.

I think that was one of the initial drafts of Day 6, spend some hours in China.

Im stoked for Day 7, He'll now be going for a week. Every 3rd season is a little less.
1+2>3
4+5>6
I think 7 has a very good potential.

Jack gives up the love of his life so that she can be safe from his touch o'doom, and all you people can do is call it shit?
How insensitive. Glad I avoided spoilers. I guess anyone would be disappointed after Loyal building up the finale as a 2-hour orgasm of delight.

Not really the spoiler thread but producers and pretty much everyone involved had given interviews on how the finale would be this really shocking event and something that would indicate sweeping changes.
I hardly think a supersensitive, crossroads-of-his-life and Emmy-worthy submission tape by Kiefer that shocking.
But yeah, it was a good ending overall, just disappointed a little bit. Though the final minutes should nab Kiefer another nomination. William Devane was also surprisingly not acting/chewing the scenery like... William Devane.

Anyway...
Hell yeah, bring on Day 7
I wonder who stays (aside from El Kief)?
Would it be the first season where absolutely nobody introduced from the preceding season would show up?

It seems that, despite the anti-climatic ending, they're still going with the reboot. The storyline is going to be much more personal for Jack and the villian won't even be an terrorist. Can you say "Season 1 redux"?

I have my doubts that 24 is going anywhere besides the usual LA scene. By the sounds of it, we can't trust anything the writers tell us anyway, so why would we trust them when they say 24 is leaving Los Angeles, and going to a new setting? They've established a number of cast members this season (and seasons prior) that didn't get killed off (Chloe, Morris, Nadia, Bill, Karen, Wayne Palmer, Daniels, Lennox, Doyle). Of course, 24's main problems this season came from those characters. It would certainly seem smart to leave them behind in Season Six Land, and give Jack some room to breathe with new settings, new characters, and new enemies.
Anyway, the season finale was the most appropriate and smartest ending to go with. They're not tied down with a cliffhanger that they need to resolve next season, and they can mull over how to approach next season in the coming weeks. It's almost refreshing. Season Four ended with Jack disappearing due to the conflict with the Chinese. Season Five ended with Jack captured by the Chinese. This is the first time since Season 3 (the most comparable season, with as many loose ends that came together in the end to produce a clean slate for Season 4) that the show ended and we don't really need to follow up on anything next season.
I say they should clean house, start fresh, and give us a final trilogy of seasons (7 through 9).

Jack will go rogue and track down Sarah Gavin to give her the paycheck she left at CTU.

I agree with you X, but I really was looking forward to a shocking ending. It would have made the season not so disappointing.
With more resolution, the finale would have been better. Tie up the Logan + Palmer loose ends at least. AND WHY DID THE CHINESE LET JACK GO IN THE FIRST PLACE????
I'm looking forward to a reboot next season.

Wow, if this season were about Jack escaping China, that would have been AWESOME.
I'm interested in a lot of the unexplained periods of 24, like when Jack was undercover with the Salazars in Mexico.

Any of you American Express cardholders?
I'm watching the 24 Day 6 Debrief webisode thing they have (only for AMEX cardholders) and since I'm at work, the volume is turned down, lol.

^ I wonder if these will prelude the "sweeping changes" for next season.
Hey, look... it's Esai Morales playing an agent from District or something.

Tv guide has an article on Day 7. They mention how Jack is back to having a normal life and is away from CTU. Also the bad guy is not a terrorist. Now this should be interesting.

Jack away from CTU = Season 2. I expect no less than 10 months of beard.
