I'm trying to catch up. I just got through episode 5 of this season, the one where Eko dies. And it was boring crap, to be quite honest.
Lost had an amazing turnaround from its first 6 episodes.
It was almost like the October-November 2006 episodes are the bastard children no one likes to talk about. The February-May 2007 episodes are probably the best of the show's entire run.

I just thought about this today, did Paulo and Nikki have any point whatsoever??? How are they possibly related to everything else going on? They were introduced for some more important reason, but I'm lost in figuring it out...

Wha? I thought this was already answered
They were introduced for no particular reason other than to be new characters. Then when the hostile reception came, the writers took action and crafted that awesome Twilight Zone-ish episode. Bye Nikki and Paulo.

Ok. They almost feel like Tori from Saved By The Bell. Introduced out of the blue, and gone just as fast...

Casket is either Locke or Sawyer.
Confirmed today... the piece of paper in Jack's hand says "The body of J...".
It won't be Jin, so really that leaves "John Locke" or "James Ford".

Im guessing Locke, then. Sawyer doesn't seem like the type who would kill himself, and Freckles would have shown up.

Of course, this IS a flash forward, so maybe something happens within the next 3 seasons that changes Sawyer

Yeah and didn't Kate say she had to "get back to him"
Who else would she be talking about other than Sawyer?
I don't knowwwwwww
Seriously, y'all. FEBRUARY?! A woman who discovered she is pregnant today will be HAVING THE CHILD when Lost comes back. That maeks it seem so freaking far from now.

I still think once they "free" Jacob, he will take a human form. However, if they were all saved, and taken off of the island, Jacob, who seems to have a island link, would not make it in the real world. I don't see it being Jin. My 2nd guess would be Sawyer...

Fair enough! Although I don't know why Jack would go to Kate with that... at all.

Locke would make sense, as his actions just in this episode would alienate him from everyone. He has no family (most likely now). BUt what doesn't make sense is why he would return home. That doesn't fit. He would never leave the island.

I think I read somewhere that you can see part of the guy's last name it is anthme or something like that. It doesn't sound like anybody we know. I imagine it is just a character that was on the island we didn't really meet.

Locke may not have had a choice. If it was a matter of letting Jack go then Ben would have done it a long time ago. There is something on the island that someone wants (or wants to exploit).
John Locke failed the island by not shooting Jack. I don't know why he would stay there.
Just found the text of the article...Lostpedia says "Jo..."...
Quote: Los Angeles Man found dead in downtown loft
"The body of Jo...''[unreadable]''...ntham of New York was discovered shortly after 4 a.m. in the...''[unreadable]''...of Grand Avenue. Ted...''[unreadable]''...man at The Tower...''[unreadable]''...heard loud noises...''[unreadable]''...antham's loft. ''[unreadable]''... [sa]fety, he ''[unreadable]''...discovered the ''[unreadable]''...a beam in the ''[unreadable]''...[ac]cordin[g]...''[unreadable]''..."
People are assuming that the person hung themselves on a beam.

Overlooking the possible "o" after the J, maybe it's Jacob.
Although there's speculation that Jacob stands for "just another con of Ben's". Which was probably mentioned a long time ago in this thread in spoilers but I didn't read them.
edit: yeah unhiding that as per andaroo's post below.

My only thing is, it would be insanely poor writing if it wasn't someone we already knew. The drama in that scene comes from the idea that the casket is someone we know and care about.
Someone who Jack, co. had a real connection to at this point.

We don't need to highlight speculation do we? Nobody knows anything really... they are probably not even writing scripts yet for next year

"Man" found dead discludes Juliet then, hehe
That can be an a or an o. The producers probably made it that way on purpose to piss off the internet.

This might have already been mentioned by you guys and I missed it. But when Locke said "you're not supposed to do this" to Jack, didn't that sound reminiscent of what the jewelry store woman said to Des in Flashes before your Eyes? Maybe it was not intended that way but it stood out.

That name looks like Lantham to me. I don't know anybody with that name on the show unless its an alias.

From the beginning they were introduced with the idea to kill them off in the style of how it was actually carried out. Howevr, it was originally planned to have the characters have a longer run with another flashback episode before the spiders one in which they were buried alive. the writers really wanted to explore and toy with that TV show Nikki was starring in... it was supposed to be an homage to something they had seen before (much like how Tarantino incorporates certain old school things in his movies). But when they saw how badly the characters were received in the first 6 episodes, they decided to cut their arc short.
