Wow. Babel is going to win the Oscar.
It's Crash all over again.
Peace,
Mike.

Eh? Babel? Eh? Uh...OK? Dammit.
At least this makes the Best Picture race more all over the place.
Is it possible Babel's win gives Dreamgirls a leg up over Departed for right now?

Reminds me of the time...
When Gangs was such a sure thing...
Then The Hours won GG Best Drama...
And the musical ended up splitting Oscar Best Picture...
The situation isn't identical, but...
Congrats to the winners.

Someone please tell me this is a joke.

I knew the Foreign Press would award Babel!! Just knew it!
Looks like the academy will be similar - award Scorcese BD and BP will go to Dreamgirls or Babel.

I'm mostly disappointed that this gives the edge to Dreamgirls (you can continue to suck it, loyal).
But Babel ROCKS. And I'm pretty happy for it.

I don't know if this automatically indicates Babel wins Best Picture. I mean, the Globes are weird. Crash wasn't even nominated at the Globes.
And things have happened before that didn't translate, like The Aviator beating out Million Dollar Baby, etc.
This kind of threw a wrench into the race but hasn't solidified Babel as a lock or anything.

WTF? BABEL? That came out of nowehere....

Oh goodness, leave me out of this one, Mike. I never singled anyone out. I'm not frustrated at any one person alone, except for maybe myself, since that's the only person I have control over. And besides, I'm the only one that counts.
Who can describe me better than I myself? - unless someone imagines that somebody else knows me better than I know myself. However that may be, I am convinced that my self-praise is considerably more modest than what ordinary run of nobles and wisemen do...

Growing up, the Golden Globes were always considered a total joke in hollywood, chosen by a corrupt group of drunken reporters. I don't know when it got started being taken seriously.

Two things.
So does Sasha get an Oscar nod? Is Marty gonna lose BP again this year at the Oscars?

Yes, and BP loss but not BD is more possible.
He's getting his Director win I think.

Publicity for the winners is never bad. Especially for Babel which until 3 weeks ago, I thought was dead. *shrug*. People watch the Globes though, and that helps.

Dreamgirls is the Favorite, IMO. I don't think Babel will win BP. It would have made less money than even Crash made last year.

At least this makes the Guilds exciting. I could see 3 different films winning the PGA.
Peace,
Mike.

Wow.
Well... I couldn't watch the show since I don't have cable as of now (meh) but I'm pretty surprised Babel ended up winning. (I NEED TO SEE IT.)

I think this almost makes Marty and a BD win a certainty. Dreamgirls will win BP.

It's just, I don't think the media and the academy should weight it too heavily.

God this year is weird.
I almost feel upset with a Babel win, which is weird because I thought the movie was really good. Just not as good as The Departed.

The Globes are a joke. They are not a precursor to the oscars at all. They ignore Babel all night and then they all have an anorgy together, snort some coke, inject some heroine and then laugh and vote for Babel, because none of them have seen it anyway. That is disgraceful.
