The Globes make baby Jesus cry.
No Ryan Gosling, no Abigail Breslin, no Little Miss Sunshine acting (besides Collette), no Children of Men, too many double (and triple) nods.

Or go on to be nominated for a BP Oscar. Nashville holds the record for most noms with 10 (four in Supporting Actress) and won only Song (IMO, it deserved everything else). Don't lose hope!
Nashville
Also... didn't Truman Show get like, 6 nods (the most in... 1999?) but failed to win GG BP (Saving Private Ryan won) and wasn't up for Oscar BP.

Crash sucked and won by reasons beyond us...
ROTK was amazing...
Gladiator was as well...
Dreamgirls has NO CHANCE!!!

It looks like once a decade or so (without going back before 1979 and checking) a film missed both and goes on to win.
Crash/ROTK/Gladiator show that under certain circumstances missing one or the other, doesn't matter.
So... Dreamgirls could be that once in a decade movie?

Yeah, missing Screenplay is common since there is only one combined category at Globes. Miss both is rare, but good to know it at least happened before.

It's because the story of the dedicated Czech reporter just trying to score an interview with Bobby tugged the hearts of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Replace "the story of the dedicated Czech reporter just trying to score an interview with Bobby" with "Harvey Weinstein", and "hearts" with "balls" and I think you might just be onto something there...

Babel eh. Well I'll gladly take it over United 93, quite a positive trade. I'm actually looking forward to Babel on DVD, I've been anticipating it.
Happy to be the first one to say Dreamgirls might have some trouble with a nom, though it's a way way double edged sword now... because if Dreamgirls misses, U93 gets in. I guess I'll take Dreamgirls without Condon or a chance to win, it's a fun nom for the Oscars, I just didn't want another musical winning so quickly.

Oh yeah, couple more things...
Mark Wahlberg! Yes!
Academy award nominee: Sascha Baron Cohen.
I hope Emily Blunt has a shot with the weak category.

I wonder if he'd accept the award as Borat. At the Globes I'm almost certain he will, but the Oscars is a far more respectful show, that'd be something.

Imagine the ratings! I honestly think he's a shoe-in, and what a great way to convince young people that these shows are keeping up with the times.

I hope either Cohen or Ferrell wins Best Actor - Musical or Comedy. It would be so surprising since the two are hardly what one would consider regular award contenders. Plus, they were both awesome in their respective films.

Well, then, I guess Babel's still in the race. But like loyal said, it needs to ride this surge all the way to January. It's not going to be getting Best Picture awards from any of the forthcoming guilds.
Bobby over United 93? I'm just going to attribute that to the weirdness of the HFP, thank you very much.
I don't really see the exclusion of Condon as a big deal. I guess such an event film's director not being nominated is sort of a big deal, but Dreamgirls still has a lot of momentum, and it's not even out yet. This is no Phantom of the Opera.

Yeap, I agree with all of these except Actor. I think Dicaprio for Departed is going to take it home for some reason. Going to be hard with split votes for BD, etc., but I still think he will get it. Either way, it's going to be a close 3-way race between O'Toole, Whitaker, and Dicaprio.
That'd be 3 awards each for Departed and Dreamgirls, setting up a very suspenseful Oscars.

Babel, my favorite film of the year only to The Departed, sweeps.
It might walk home with one or two statues. Maybe.

I actually...kind of like these nominations
Except Bobby (??????) getting in over United 93, which is laughable
I love the surprise nominees like Emily Blunt for The Devil Wears Prada! As wonderrrrrrful as Meryl was, she wasn't the only good thing about the movie

Meh, Anne's got her own Oscar bid next year (playing Jane Austen).
And, speaking of Anne, were we aware she's playing Agent 99 alongside Steve Carell in the movie of Get Smart? That's kind of cool
