 Re: September 19-21 Predictions
A Walk Among the Tombstones is for some reason opening in like 400-500 fewer theaters (I can't imagine this umber won't go up once actual counts come out) but hopefully that won't hurt its box office too much.

Maze Runner - $35M Tombstones - $19.5M
Breakout incoming. Maze Runner's marketing has done a fantastic job at selling itself beyond its core audience of young girls. It actually looks like a solid action thriller.

 Re: September 19-21 Predictions
Does anyone even know how many theaters Tusk is opening in? Hoping it opens in at least enough to open locally but I think it's going to be dumped.

 Re: September 19-21 Predictions
Its going wide. It should open to at least 5 million as long it is truly wide and not 500 theaters.

Box Office Mojo has it as wide but I've read other sources saying limited, which I believe could be the case considering there's been hardly any promotion. Even if it goes nationwide it would probably be anywhere from 300-700 theaters. Not super wide. If it does go wide it will bomb big time.

 Re: September 19-21 Predictions
I think Tombstones, This Is Where I Leave You, and Maze Runner should at least be able to do 68 Million. Tusk maybe 2 Million depending on how many theaters. So I'll say yes to the poll question.

The Maze Runner - 32 A Walk Among the Tombstones - 20 This Is Where I Leave You - 11
It is impossible to predict Tusk without an estimated theatre count, though this type of niche blend of comedy and gory horror rarely hits it big before home video. I am reminded of Slither in 2006 or Jennifer's Body.

 Re: September 19-21 Predictions
I'm surprised by the teen predictions for This Is Where I Leave You. I could easily see this doing mid-single digits.

 Re: September 19-21 Predictions
For me, the dynamic there is: the draw of an enviable cast versus a low-key ad campaign caught in a grey area between comedy and drama.

 Re: September 19-21 Predictions
The trailers, while not hilarious, are decent enough, and are everywhere. The cast is great, and there is no competition. Reviews are decent for the kind of film it is.

The Maze Runner - $27.5 million A Walk Among the Tombstones - $19.4 million This is Where I Leave You - $8.9 million
Not feeling TiWILY. The reviews strike me as too mixed, and the marketing not striking enough.

 Re: September 19-21 Predictions
yeah, ensemble isn't that strong. Bateman's last hits were 'cause of McCarthy and Horrible Bosses had a much more accessible premise/cast. It'd be nice if it manages to do well though.

I really don't see This Is Where I leave you going sub 10 million, though sub 15 million would not surprise me.
