The Dark Knight Rises Tuesday Discussion
This is big, it needs a good day after 4 straight downers. There were 5 sell outs at local theater today, praaay for an increase.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Tuesday Discussion
Tuesday has become stronger over the years, so should not see a higher drop than TDK or DMC. $18m+.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Tuesday Discussion
It is coming of a big Monday (yeah I know it is not as big as TDK's but still) so I see about 10% decrease but that would hardly be a surprise cause Tuesday's have gotten stronger nowadays. I see $17,547,161 for a 9.5% decrease which is not really impressive IMO. It should increase or stay flat to be called good or impressive.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Tuesday Discussion
Rth, who has access to the Rentrak data, is saying $17.8-18.3 million, so looks like it will end up around $18m.

RTH has been a little higher for TDKR so I think it will be close to my $17.5m

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Tuesday Discussion
Wasn't sub-10% drop expected? Its Wednesday hold will be more telling. TDK dropped an exceptional 12% on its first Wednesday. Already grossing lesser over the weekdays I think TDKR will have around 15%-18% drop on Wednesday

Thursday isn't optimistic.

Magnus wrote: Even if you raise it to 13.5m, it still means 67.5m weekend optimistically. 58% drop. Yes, and it's probably not going to have a great hold for the weekend with the Olympics starting on Friday. Right now I'm hoping for around $62.5m so it can be $15m ahead of Potter's second weekend.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Tuesday Discussion
The only thing is that the primary demographic missing - families - primarily go to the movies on weekend.
Whenever/if they show up, it will likely be on the weekend. IF they come out this weekend, we will see larger than expected increases.

I like how everyone was anticipating the Tuesday number... and then said it doesn't matter because Wednesday will be the REAL telling number!

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Tuesday Discussion
At one point on Saturday I thought it might have a From Justin to Kelly type run, where it would not have a daily increase until its second Tuesday or third weekend. I still think the Friday increase could be really low like something in the 20%-35% range. I hope I am wrong, but this movie has so many things going against it at the moment that a Friday increase higher than TDK seems unlikely. TDK did not have to deal with the Olympics Opening Ceremony until its 4th weekend.

Thursday isn't optimistic. Thursday should be something approximately around TA's 30% drop from Tuesday and TDK's 22% drop. Between 25-32% seems the projectory which would be between $12.1m and $13.3m.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Tuesday Discussion
I feel the Wednesday drop will be a little lesser as well though not as good as TDK's 12%. Somewhere between 15%-18% but then the Friday will have much lesser increase as compared to TDK so a $65m+ second weekend is not yet guaranteed.
