What's the point of the 1-hour embargo? No need for one at all. That's usually how long it takes me to get home anyway!

Oh. I just know of someone who went to an early screening of that movie a few weeks ago. They thought it was really good, even though it wasn't quite finished.

No, it's a German film you all have never heard of (and probably will never hear of).

 Re: Interstellar Domestic Predictions
Oh, right, predictions:
Tuesday night/Wednesday/Thursday - $5 million (according to the official site, there are only 200 regular theaters, plus 11 70mm and 41 real-IMAX screens...probably won't add up to much, and all the ads are saying Nov. 7 as the opening) Friday - $23 million ($2.5 million Thursday night previews) Saturday - $25 million Sunday - $15.5 million
So, just over Inception for the 3-day. I've been predicting high-50s for a while, but early word is so strong that I think that will help it, in addition to early WOM from the limited Wednesday opening. So from there...hm, not sure yet. If this finally becomes Nolan's golden ticket to the Oscars, $300 million is certain. Although maybe it just needs to be that level of caliber to make the mark...
Opening: $63.5 million Total: $300 million (4.72)
I'm not that certain about this at all, but I'm feeling optimistic.

B. You can't determine really what Inception would have done outside of summer. It's weekend drops wouldn't be the same. Also, if it's not in summer, you don't know what the competition is like A. The tone was more like that of a thriller than an action movie. The dialog in the marketing wasn't about defeating bad guys, but about the world of dreams. B. Saying that it would drop more in summer because summer films drop big is still affirming the consequent though. Inception's Friday jumps were very consistent until schools began to start. The only new competition with much overlap was Salt. I'd argue running into Maze Runner, Equalizer and GG in the fall would be more direct.

I'm not that certain about this at all, but I'm feeling optimistic. Very solid logic. I'm just personally feeling this pulls a mini-Avatar and hits the big-time with an over 400M domestic gross. Yes statistically this is extremely unlikely, but I have faith. I still feel confident in better-than-Inception legs, with a final multiplier over 5.

 Re: Interstellar Domestic Predictions
I still have yet to hear any "normal" people talking about this movie and it has never gotten any kind of reaction when I've seen the trailer and I've seen it before plenty of movies.
I think it will do very well but I don't think it will have some giant opening. If it's great and people embrace it, it should have some great holds but don't forget, The Hunger Games is pretty much a four quadrant film. It's going to see a pretty big drop the week that is released.
I think anything over $50 million opening weekend would be GREAT for this.

 Re: Interstellar Domestic Predictions
The hype will just set people up to be disappointed. So I hope there are bad reviews so that I go into the cinema with realistic expectations. No film can really blow my mind any more, so reviews saying that it will, will just set it up to fail. At least that's how it works for moi.
