The problem is that your post, even if you do read it, doesn't agree with itself. Basically, what I'm seeing is that absolutely everyone disagrees with Empire on this one, including Empire himself \:D/

LOL!!!

This will be a big hit. If it opens in the $45m range - a 5 multiplier in December can get it to about $210-$230m which is where I think it will finish. Very good gross.

I think Kong can edge towards $275m, while Potter 4 can look at about $240-$260m.

Yes, you just convinced me that both you and the other dolt read and understood my post, especially since you called me "empire" (twice!). I mean, if you can't even get my alias right, you can't be trusted with comprehending anything else either. There goes your credibility right there...

Ok the 1st thing I need to ask are you just basing this on the Teaser Trailer? If you are well that's a big Mistake. This is a big book and honstly this is the only Childs movie that comes out for the christmas holiday. I'm sorry but I don't see King Kong appealing to Kids as much as Narnia does. Add in the fact this is a Disney film and that name alone gets big bucks no mater how bad the Movie is. Also They just added a big name Actor in Liam Neeson as the Voice of the Lion true he's not that big but still hes a good actor and could provide a wonderful voice.

Most people won't even see the parallels between story because most people don't know the story behind the authors.

Same as the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I wouldn't expect that much success from Narnia, but $150 million is a lock.

Jesus Story or not, I have read the books and they just dont compare in any way to Tolkien's vision...They will be nowhere near as successful. In fact, mentioning the 2 movies in the same sentence is already an insult to Tolkien.

Im sure the director, whoever he is, will find a way to fuck it up big time.

Tolkien was very good friends with c.w lewis,i think he would be proud of his lotr books being mentioned in the same breath as narnia.

Nope... the only other lock this year for $150 million is HARRY POTTER 4... King Kong and Narnia are NOT locks...

I know they were good friends...They were both professors at Oxford together. What's your point? Since when does being good friend legitimize the quality of literature? Tolkien is far and away superior in all aspects of story telling, to Lewis. There is no point even comparing the 2. Lewis in no way shape or form comes close to the sophistication both in writing and story telling of Tolkien...This is not an argument or a debate, this is just plain trolling... Enough of this bullshit already.

Please tell me you are kidding. HP 4, King Kong, and Narnia are all LOCKS for 150 million. I don't how you can possibly see it differently. King Kong will pass 150 million before its second weekend is over. Narnia should be able to pass it in 2 weeks as well. I don't think you realize the fan bases behind these movies.

You're insulting the chances of a movie and you don't even know who the director is? :???: Oh well, you probably don't know him, he's just the guy who directed Shrek (what in the world is Shrek??).

Yes, and shrek is a 3rd grade comedy. It relies on fart and burp jokes to squeeze out some laughs. And because the film happens to be animated, and the fact that most people are stupid, they call it "comedy"...After all, an ugly green poorly animated ogre with an even worse fake accent farting, burping and taking the piss out of some donkey is what people these days call witty comedy.

I know many film makers, but I do not bother memorizing the names of talentless buffoons. And Narnia looks quite fake too. Very poor CGI.

Yes, if a movie that relies on fart and burp jokes can make $440 mil. then Narnia's going to fail horribly.

Comparing Narnia to Peter Pan, gosh.... :???:

Narnia has more production weight and is a scale much larger than Peter Pan. This has been on the radar for quite some time, the fans are really hungry, and unlike Peter Pan - this is the first time the beloved classic is on the big screen.

Regardless of what you think of the book, i'm really optimistic about its chances and i will not be surprised if it beats both Harry Potter 4 and King Kong for supremacy in Nov/Dec. There's a lot going for it: it appeals to all ages, it's a classic story, the book is one of the best of all-time, it is handled by a brilliant director. When you mix these qualities with the Christmas/Holiday season, its right on the ball.

I'm more excited about its International potential, it will launch the weekend before Christmas in most markets and will be the fresher and friendlier choice for that frame.....KK's sting and legs will not match Narnia. I really think Narnia's release dates are smarter than that of KK.

Predictions:

Harry Potter 4 - $270m + $610m = $880m
Narnia - $280m + $500m = $780m
King Kong - $210m + $380m = $590m

I didn't realise that the film has 'Blitz' in it too. For that i take back what i said about it being boring.

Although the poster doesnt lead us to beleive that it may have some action in. It looks so god damn boring!

I say:

$43 Million / $105 Million

With a $43 million opening weekend, it's guaranteed to make $150+ million total. Legs are never that bad around Christmas.
