Eh, last year 5 films opened on Dec 21st. NT2, Sweeney, Charlie Wilsons War, PS I Love You, and Walk Hard. And the only one that underperformed was Walk Hard really. Then a few days later AP2 and Water Horse opened, and they didn't do too bad either. So that's 7 wide films released in less than a week last year, with only one bomb.

There should be enough room for several films to do well this that time of the year I think.

I think this can do really well over Christmas. Lets hope it can break out of the crowded marketplace.

I would never consider Green Hornet a tentpole movie. It also doesnt help that its going to be a comedy

That july 1st or 4th spot in 2010 should belong to Robotech or Voltron.

The Changeling (no longer The Exchange) will be released October 24th in limited and go wide October 31st.

Yeah I dont count The Green Hornet as a summer tentpole, especially with Rogen starring. It should go for a Spring release.

Why hasn't something been moved to Oct. 31st yet?

There's only RockNRolla and Zack and Miri Make A Porno.

Neither one of those will make much at all, and nothing is taking advantage of that release date. I'd move Saw V there cuz Oct.24 currently has: HSM3, Saw V, Nightmare Before Xmas 3D, The Brothers Bloom, and He's Just Not That Into You, and The Lucky Ones. All wide except Lucky Ones.

Opening on Oct.31st could push Saw V's OD into the high teens too, and should guarentee it opens higher than the other Saw's by a few million.

I just mentioned above that Changeling opens wide Oct 31st! :mer:

I agree that Saw should move there - away from HSM3. Plus its a better weekend for it anyway. Zack and Miri make a porno could do decently - maybe $40m and RockNRolla could bring out the Guy Ritchie fans and do a solid $40m aswell.

BTW - between Nightmare 3D and HSM3 you are going to be very busy the weekend of the 24th!!!

Heh, $40 million would make it the by far biggest Kevin Smith film to date.

Eh, I doub't Zack And Miri Make A Porno makes even half of 40M. Clerks II, which had a fanbase (Smith fans + Clerk fans, while the same basically, the Clerks name probably helped a bit) only opened to 10M in 2150 theatres, and finished with 24M. BOM doesn't list Zack and Miri as wide, but I don't think it will get over 2000, but if it does, I dont think it could open to 10M.

Ha, I won't be busy actually. I predict the first 3D equipped theatre to be in my state in the year 2020 or so.

Seth Rogen should help Zack and Miri, I'd say...somewhat at least.

It would definitely be a wise move to get a Zach and Miri trailer in front of Pineapple Express. That's essentially their target audience right there, plus a few more that might not otherwise be interested.

Yeah I think of Zack and Miri more as a mini Apatow film than a Kevin Smith one heh. So it may break out a little more than his previous efforts.

I hate studios having these early screenings just because it messes up the BO numbers. But then again, you get to see it early.

Bruno - 5/15/09

That should be an interesting project. Out of the three charecters (Ali G, Bruno, and Borat), Bruno is usually seen as the weakest. But Borat was HUGE so maybe that will be enough for it to get a big OW.

Hmm it has too much competition but hey it should crack 60 million domestically.

I still dont see that high of an interest for the new Terminator movie especially without arnold. I also think NATM should be released in winter to avoid suffering from Narnia syndrome
