hmmm. Not sure why they moved Hitman because to be honest the old release spot was much safer since there were no other big releases that weekend.

Enchanted will have a big family and girl support. The mist will get a fair share of stephen king fans.

Also Beowulf will get a good opening weekend and people will rather watch something cooler like that then Hitman.

I think this is bad move.

Wolverine starts shooting in November; so a early august release would probably be best case scenario.

Maybe - depending on how I Am Legend performs this year - Wolverine gets a December release date.

Its probably the best time for it as summer is too crowded with comic book films, November has Bond/Potter/Wolfman/Madagascar/BenButton but December only has Angels and Demons and Bed Time Stories at this stage so this would perfectly complement them.

I think Four Christmas's will also come out in December and should do well btw.

I posted this in its own thread, but New Line has set a release date of May 30 for the Sex and the City movie.

It will crush IJ4 in terms of surprisingly good OW and awesome BO at the end just DWP made SR look absolutely pathetic.

superman 2 won't come in summer 2009.

I know there are 2 sections of people at WB. One supporting SR2 and other JLA. But JLA will probably make it in summer 2009 or winter 2009 while SR2 won't hit until winter 2009 or summer 2010.

Also WB is showing more interest in JLA than SR.

Good move for Narnia because it gives it a two-year gap between the two films. Bad move because it keeps it in summer for no reason, plus Shrek 4 comes like two weeks after it at that release date.

No idea what G-Force is, but it probably doesn't deserve summer start.

Not sure about that Wolfman move. I think this film could do better in October/November than spring.

"G-Force" follows a group of intelligent animal commandoes working for a government agency trying to prevent an evil billionaire from taking over the world.

It's an Animated Family Adventure.

G-force was an anime from the 70s. Its Voltron without the robots. They played it quite alot in the mornings during the 80s. I knew anime was going to be the next genre targetted after they depleted all the comic book characters

But G-force in japan is called GATCHAMAN. It is awesome stuff. What i find absolutely hilarious is that there is already a GATCHAMAN cgi/animated movie coming sometime in early 2009 from the guys who did TMNT animted flick that came this year.

So what is the point of having another cgi/animated flick of the same thing except it is will be called what it was called in usa.

Also GATCHAMAN was much better becasue the us version aka G-FORCE had adapted only 99 episodes out of 105 GATCHAMAN episodes.

G-Force..
Buena Vista

Im sorry but I cant help but think that this movie will look more like more like Sky High. If its being used to start the summer, it would be more like a second tier film like Sky High instead of a tentpole movie. Those movie studios really dont know how to pick the animes when there are much better more potential in Cowboy Bebop, Gundam, Hellsing etc. Well at least they picked up Macross

if you look at the youtube videos of the cartoon, you can see what I mean about them being too cartoon like. Im also referring to Voltron too because there really hasnt been any fan artwork or studio work that makes it look more sophisticated. After showing the giant robot where can they really go from there because the plot is pretty generic where he battles a different monster that looks like godzilla. I know you can also the same with Transformers but that one at least was adapted into more mature comic books and artwork

I totally agree and that is why I think fox/regency is going to update it and make it look much more different than the cartoon with more villains and cooler stuff.

If you see the Gatchaman photos i posed in cinemania section then you will know what i mean.

Rather odd to think BV would pit G-Force and Narnia 3 against each other like that. Im pretty sure they will move GForce when something bigger slots itself as the summer start. I dont even think Narnia 3 is concrete in that slot either.

EDIT: ok i take back what I said - i thought they moved Narnia back a week not a year!! :hahaha:

Good move.

I still think its rather odd that Disney is putting so much stock in G-Force. I mean to put it as a tentpole movie. As a cartoon, barely barely anyone has heard of it. As an anime, it wasnt that immensly popular. As a storyline, it wasnt anything extrodinary nor is it introducing anything that high tech to bring a big demographic. You can also barely find any websites dedicated to it. I guess I'll wait and see how the leaked pics turn out

They usually have alot of faith in anything Jerry Bruckheimer is involved with (and usually rightly so). I mean who would have thought a film about a theme park ride would become a mega franchise (Pirates).

But it does seem odd.

I think just becasue no one has not heard of anything or the cartoon sucked bad in the day does not mean it cannot be made into a good movie and turn into a big hit.

Who would have thought that a stupid pirate ride in disneyworld will turn out to be one the biggest grossing franchise of all time.

I think all anime have potential. It just needs to be seen if they can take a particular franchise and make an amazing looking and cool movie and market it very well. If that can be done the movie will do well.

Well theres a big time overlap between Voltron and G-Force. Not only are they anime but the plots from both cartoons are exactly the same and the heroes are identical where there are 5 of them who happen to be teenagers

I noticed that.

I guess Disney is planning to come out first so that later everyone can say that fox ripped off g-force. Since there are so many anti fox websites like aicn and chud, it will be perfect for them to rip apart voltron and fox into shreds.

But if i am not mistaken disney's movie is an animated/cgi movie or maybe not. But what i don't understand is why is Jerry not focusing on Prince of Persia instead.

Doesnt having too many motion capture/ CGI animated films in 09 make it very generic? I mean you got Avatar/Justice League as motion capture while G-force,Monsters Vs as serious CGI animated flicks.

DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc., together with Paramount Pictures Corporation, a unit of Viacom Inc., announced today that Monsters vs. Aliens, DreamWorks Animation's first-ever film produced in stereoscopic 3-D technology, will be released into theatres on March 27, 2009. The film had been previously slated for its domestic release on May 15, 2009.

Avatar should now move up to May 15th, which is a better release date than Memorial Day.

Some other movie might take the spot. I think AVATAR will stick with that release date. Simply put it will be an event movie for the memorial weekend. It is so funny that movies are running away from it.
