I'm not saying that it cant theoretically do well, but that just its opening will not be nearly that high, as new CG films don't have the huge event status that they may have had in other years, as there will be 12 other ones of them earlier in the year. Its release date will help it immensely leg wise, but $55-60 m opening? I think that's a bit high. I'm seeing something more like high $30's , and then close to $200 m finish, that might happen. But a massive opening I don't see merely because of the release date, because the novelty is not as strong as it once was.

I'm admittedly not a very good box-office predictor (I tend to leave the predicting to the professionals), so I'm not going to make a solid predict.

I DO think this has great potential to reach $200mil. I know I'm in the $300mil club, but that's mostly wishful thinking.

But this really did get great audience response from its teaser last winter, and all the teasers I've seen have made it look awesome.

Then take into account Steve Irwin doing a voice (of course, most people won't know it 'til they see the movie, I imagine, as WB's not ever mentioned his participation in the teasers/trailers). And then the teaser trailer for Harry Potter 5 is going to be attached to Happy Feet.... This is one of the most anticipated of the Harry Potter films, so you KNOW there'll be fans going to see the movie for the trailer. I know that many on Leaky Cauldron have said they plan on going just for the trailer (with others encouraging them to stay for the movie as well, 'cause it looks so great!).

So, yeah, I'm gonna say between $185mil and $200mil, though who knows if that's going to be even remotely accurate.

Plot Outline: In the great nation of Emperor Penguins, deep in Antarctica, you're nobody unless you can sing—which is unfortunate for Mumble (Elijah Wood), who is the worst singer in the world. He is born dancing to his own tune... tap dancing.

Though Mumble's mom, Norma Jean (Nicole Kidman), thinks this little habit is cute, his dad, Memphis (Hugh Jackman), says it "just ain't penguin." Besides, they both know that, without a Heartsong, Mumble may never find true love.

As fate would have it, his one friend, Gloria (Brittany Murphy), happens to be the best singer around. Mumble and Gloria have a connection from the moment they hatch, but she struggles with his strange "hippity- hoppity" ways.

Mumble is just too different—especially for Noah the Elder (Hugo Weaving), the stern leader of Emperor Land, who ultimately casts him out of the community.

Away from home for the first time, Mumble meets a posse of decidedly un-Emperor-like penguins—the Adelie Amigos. Led by Ramon (Robin Williams), the Adelies instantly embrace Mumble's cool dance moves and invite him to party with them.

In Adelie Land, Mumble seeks the counsel of Lovelace the Guru (also voiced by Robin Williams), a crazy-feathered Rockhopper penguin who will answer any of life's questions for the price of a pebble.
