Re: That's My Boy
This was disgusting. I laughed like twice through the seemingly endless two-hour running time. It just gets plain bizarre by the end too - I have absolutely no idea why Leighton Meester would sign on to a role like this (especially since I remember reading an interview when she first signed on that stated this would be a breakout role for her), and the same goes for the many random performers on display here like Susan Sarandon and James Caan.
Milo Ventimiglia gives what might be the worst performance of the year, and Sandler isn't much better. I did think Andy Samberg gave it the best he could - and the two laughs I had were from his character.

Re: That's My Boy
That's My Boy showed some ol' Sandler goodness but was matched with his recent juvenile nature. Him and Samberg are good. Meester proves she can't do anything right when it comes to acting and Milo Ventimiglia is horrendous. Will Forte though is hilarious as usual. I don't think the twist though will work at all with audiences. **

I get what jmovies is saying though. I think he's getting worse with age.
That is, if any part of his career can be characterized as "better".

I don't know, I actually didn't like Grown ups or Zohan in theaters, but now whenever I catch them I usually laugh quite a bit. Just Go with it same thing. I give him credit for branching out more recently. Sure some of the high concept has been hit and miss, but it's better than other comedians of the 90s doing nothing but family crap now.

Just Go With It was somewhat decent. I've noticed Sandler is a lot more tolerable when he has a good female lead by his side.

Sandler is actually not really bad at all and his chemistry with his co stars has always been his strength. Plus him not being the straight character (Or somewhat skewed straight characters) have never worked outside of Zohan and Waterboy. He is everyone's go to for the Everyday joe

Re: That's My Boy
Major Freakin' Disappointment, reporting for duty SIR!!! That's My Boy was only sporadically good, and sadly the good part were those that closest resembled what David wrote earlier today: Bradley Witherberry wrote: David wrote: [Sandler] should be careful with his next few projects. Try to recapture the "magic" of films such as Big Daddy... Huh?!? Big Daddy was easily his worst movie. Yep - - this is another father-son bromance. Unfortunately, the gross out set pieces were so old and tired that they had to drink Geritol to give them the appearance of vitality. Worst of all, That's My Boy unfortunately fits David's other well-timed thread from today: Most precipitous declines in directorial quality?The director of this limp effort is none other than Sean Anders. Yes, his previous movie was the masterpiece Sex Drive. Perhaps you think I'm exaggerating? Well then read the raves of KJ for the comedy triumph known as Sex Drive!!!!! That's My Boy is (gasp!) mediocre. 3 out of 5. {Note: I can't say I didn't dig that hot female cameo appearance towards the end - - SS I'll always love you!}

- Mysoginistic / Incest is funny! - Racist - Rape is awesome! - Obese people are funny! - Tony Orlando - Susan Sarandon?? - Assumes that all people from Boston embrace or support the above. - Vanilla Ice (who might actually be the best part of this) - We're supposed to believe Donny Berger is not only charming, but a sex magnet. - Takes place in a world that doesn't exist. - And worst of all it's not fucking funny.
On behalf of the entire state of Massachusetts and those who are/used to be your fans: Adam Sandler, go fuck yourself and your mother.

On the bright side, I didn't pay to see this so an extra fuck you Sandler.

More or less calls movie a crime against humanity. Tells star to go fuck his mother.
Still gives movie a D instead of an F.

Are you really criticizing someone else for being too easy with their grading?

Re: That's My Boy
Nah. I didn't say, "Jmart, you're always so easy with your grades! What's wrong with you, dude? Be more cynical and tough. Movies aren't your friend. Only losers go into the theatre with a shred of enthusiasm in their souls." I just found it amusing how this particular movie seemed to disturb, enrage, offend, and disgust him in every conceivable way--his thoughts end by telling Adam Sandler to go fuck himself AND HIS MOTHER--yet he still gave it the D.

Re: That's My Boy
Criticizing this type of comedy for lack of taste is a fool's errand - - the real problem here is the lack of funny.

Still gives movie a D instead of an F. Andy Samberg is the movies lone saving grace. He got a few laughs out of me. Despite all that I said, if a comedy can make me laugh a couple of times then I can't rule it an all out failure. I probably should've mentioned that for clarification, but I wasn't quite in the mood to be forgiving or give the film any sort of credit. And Bradley, the wheelchair should make it quite easy for him. It's not like she can just get up and run away.

Re: That's My Boy
Eh. It certainly wasn't the worst movie ever made and I will admit that I actually enjoyed Jack and Jill more (hey, it was a bad movie but I won't lie and tell you I didn't chuckle often) but it was harmless, though overlong. If you're a fan of someone in the cast I would check it out, but if not pass. It's also kind of overlong. Couldn't believe it was nearly two hours, by the end I was waiting for it to be over.
