Have seen a lot of low-scoring games this year, but also quite a few 6-run 9th. Kind of extreme.

The Yankees are starting to get their rotation into somewhat of a groove. Over the next three games, they have their big three going again, followed by Clemens against the Mets (I think on Friday). That saying, I think the Diamondbacks will give them some trouble in New York. They're anything but the Pirates. I do think the Yankees will be at .500 by the end of this series though. That is unless the Diamondbacks can get their offense going against Pettite and Mussina. Then they have the Mets coming up - another good NL team.

As for the Red Sox, they took 2 out of 3 in Arizona and that's completely acceptable since the Diamondbacks are a very good team. Even though Dice-K took the loss, he was on top of his game today. He just had to go up against Randy Johnson who now extends his winning streak against the Red Sox to 8 games. Thankfully, the Red Sox don't have to face him again this year. It's also a shame he won't be going in the Yankees series. That would've been fun to watch.

And although 9.5 is nothing like the 14.5 lead they have, it's still very sizeable. In the upcoming series against the Rockies, they have their 4, 1, & 2's going (Wakefield, Schilling, Beckett). Every game is winnable in this series and they should sweep. Hopefully they'll be 10.5 up by the weekend when the Giants come to town.

Between the 11th and last night - the length of time I was on vacation - the Sox went 5-3. Not bad.

The Bad News

Schilling got rocked around in both games since no-no bid.
They've lost 1.5 games in that time
Yankees finally got above .500
Beckett lost his first game
Donnelly is injured

The Good News

Schilling's MRI came back normal
Beckett - 10-1
Matsuzaka - 8-5
As of right now, Donnelly is the only one on the DL. Hopefully it stays that way unlike last year.

Never mind. Schilling is put on the 15 DL. It's probably another cautionary move like they pulled with Beckett, but just with an unknown injury (That I know of).

Boston is back up by 10 games. And what is with the Rockies? They have given both Boston and NY trouble.

I was just about to mention the Rockies... They've been hot for a while. 20-7 run I believe. Probably a dark horse for that division.

Listening to the end of the Red Sox game on the radio, you could've sworn the game was being played at Fenway Park. I've heard Red Sox fans at opposing ballparks being loud before, but today was just insane. The only time I could compare it to is when the Red Sox went to Montreal for a series a few years ago. Out of the 7,000 fans or so that showed up, I'd say it was 90/10 Red Sox fans. That was fun to watch.

And happy days; Sox win, Yankees lose.

Sad note though. Rod Beck died at the age of 38. Considering his body type and his drug use you might have seen this one coming, but it's obviously still sad nonetheless.

Just when I was contemplating dropping the Jays so I could cheer for/put my weight behind a team that doesn't suck, they sweep a pretty good Rockies team and almost throw a no hitter.

Oh, and Ken Griffey Jr. ... is good again? Maybe he juiced up. Or maybe this is even better because he's the one smasher who's been lean/doesn't seem like he used steroids to accomplish what he's done. He's 7th all time with 584 after passing Marky Mark today, he should pass Frank Robinson at 586 and Sosa at 601 before he's done, putting him the top 5 all time. (!) If only he had stayed healthy...

id just like to add how nasty i think dice k has been. hes 9 n 5; his last 2 losses he only gave up 2 runs in both starts so he should be 11-3 which would be nuts. But hes got his era down a lot and has come up big....i predict 10-3 second half for a 19-8 rookie year with an era around 3.3-3.4. next year hell be ridic.

For some reason, the Red Sox can never win in Seattle. With the loss last night, they're now 0-6 in their last six games there. Hopefully Gabbard can suprise once again with Schilling on the DL and the Sox can grab a win tonight.

What a horrible season. Time to focus on the Bears now!!

I think I will celebrate the White Sox's horrible season by watching my world series DVD! Always cheers me up.
