If Matsuzaka can pitch like he did today throughout the enitre season, he'll be worth the money spent and thensome. He went 7 innings pitched giving up one run on six hits and striking out ten. If it weren't his first game, he probably could've pitched the full nine innings. With the exception of one mistake (home run) he was pretty much perfect.

He was worth the money from the minute they signed him. I have defended him to lots of people including someone last night at the bar. First, you take what the 16 Million and they check to see how much money he has made them with additional tv coverage, including Japan, plus the merchandising etc. Then on the field, if it wasn't for Santana, I would say D'Mat for a possible MVP. Why, well he has been seen by a number of major league players and coaches and all say he is the real deal; he did good when he pitched in that World tournament; and mainly while most players get by with 1,2,3 decent to good to great pitches, D'Mat has like 5 great pitches he throws and that doesn't even include the gyroball that was just a fake story. Also for say the 10 to 16 Million net they are paying him, how many wins does it take to be worthwhile, I say about 15 + in this 1st year.

Edit: Now going for D'Mat for Cy Young.

The ONLY way Matsuzaka will succeed is if he wins his FIRST game against the Yankees.

Brilliant, for the simplicity of your stupid remark. Wait a minute, you aren't related to George Steinbrenner and one of the Yankee braintrust based on that comment. Also, so when was the last Yankee World Series win?

Just go up and re-read what I typed above as I don't feel like repeating it. Anyway, no they are about my 4th favorite team after Mets, Yankees, Dodgers, Boston but I can judge fairly talent based on watching the game. Maybe if you were a fan of the game and not just a Yankee fanboy, I guess, would you be able to judge fairly and actually post a fair and knowledgable comment. Don't take my opinion, check all of the other pro-D'mat comments from probably everyone in the world except for you and other Yankee fans. O, here is something that I just thought of, maybe you are alittle jealous that George and th Yankees didn't get him yourself.

What the hell are you talking about?

Did I not just say I'm a Boston fanboy? They're my number 2 behind my Tigers.

I NEVER said that Matsu wasn't good. He's GREAT. But he won't be SUCCESSFUL unless he beats the Yankees.

That's how we roll.

I just remembered why I'm not a big fan of ESPN's baseball coverage. Listening to Joe Morgan is next to impossible.

As for the Red Sox. I'm not sure what it is, but they can't hit for shit right now. Ortiz has really bailed them out tonight.

Despite the Sox losing today, I saw a lot of good things.

Good thing #1: Danks, the always worrying 5th starter. It wasn't too long ago where the White Sox could not make the playoffs, cause their 5th starter situation was the worst in the league, by far. They simply could NOT win a game where the 5th starter went, cause they all sucked so incredibly awful. Danks, on the other hand, while giving up 3 runs (really quickly, quick single, quick single, first pitch home run) he looked pretty good the rest of the game. And really, a 5th starter giving up 3 runs in 6 innings is just fine with me.

Good thing #2: The White Sox bullpen has been really good the first week, hopefully it continues.

And lets face it... I never think the Sox are going to win when facing Santana. That guy is just too good.

Zito and the Giants suck....music to my ears.

A's are probably missing Frank Thomas right now, he gave them a push when they were in a slump at bat, but they're still a very solid team.

Watching a Cubs game currently (like to see them lose, it's fun) and noticed that they have Soriano batting lead off, which brings up a question.

When the hell is a team going to realize that Soriano is NOT a fucking lead-off hitter?? He strikes out well over 100 times a season and hits close to 40 home runs a season. Just because he's really fast and can steal bases doesn't mean he should bat lead-off, but like no team he has been on has realized that. It's baffling, he belongs in the middle of that lineup, maybe clean-up, not lead-off. They're missing out on a lot of production!

The Red Sox bats finally got hot. I guess they needed some home cooking since they put up a 14 spot.

Tomorrow night should be a lot of fun as well with Matsuzaka making his Fenway debut.

That's surprising.

Question: Why aren't they playing this series in Los Angeles? Just switch the series and have the NEXT series against the Angels be at Cleveland. I don't get how it is that hard to schedule that. Guess if the next one is a 4-gamer or something, but still, it'd be better than having it in Miller Park

i'm not sure why. i'd say just because milwaukee is so close. don't wanna fly cleveland all the way out to LA for 3 days then all the way back to cleveland.

Damn, Angels lost again.

No Worries, they are still 5 for 7 in terms of wins, and are still comfortably in the lead.

Boston and D'Mat tonight vs. Ichiro and Seattle.

I'm not sure if anyone else notices this on ESPN, but the atmosphere at Fenway Park is World Series like. I'm not 100% positive as to why that is, but it just is.

Looks like the BoSox should've saved some runs from yesterday's game. Being no-hit through five is just depressing.

D'Mat dominated Ichiro so far, but Hernandez is stealing all the thunders. No hit so far in the game and still no run allowed this season. This could be the fastest AL game ever in my memory.

I saw the game, Hernandez was outstanding; did I hear correctly that he was 21 and is a great prospect or pitcher already?

Yeah, he was touted as the best pitching prospect when he was called up to pitch two years ago, and he did show some outstanding stuff, but just not consistently. This year so far has been amazing, 4 hits in 17 innings? At 21 years old, he could be on his way to be the next Pedro.

Jesus the Yankees are having a tough go of it. First Wang goes down, and now Pavano and Mussina? If this keeps up, they better pray that their offense can carry them until the trading deadline.
