Habs are damn impressive this year, I didn't see their domination coming at all... 13-5-3 so far, wow. That Northeast division is quite something, you've got the 3 best teams in the Eastern Conference with Buffalo, Toronto, and Montreal, and Ottawa waiting to wake up right underneath them, which they no doubt will. It's awesome too because those 4 cities are among the most hockey fanatic, and they all get to play each other non stop.

I'm going to Edmonton vs Columbus this weekend... shitty game, but hey free tickets are free tickets.
Marion Hossa woke the fuck up tonight, heh. He's not dropping out of the scoring race contention yet. Kozlov and Kovalchuk should follow suit in the next couple games, to get Atlanta back on track.
I hate how Pronger's return to Edmonton was on pay-per-view. Cheap bastards. ... most anticipated game of the year for Edmontonians, and they pull that shit. Oh well, I hope they booed loud.

Habs are now 4th in Eastern conference, and that's as good as you can get without being a division leader (in other words, Habs are doing well considering the team they have to catch in order to become division leader is Buffalo!).
The Canadiens moved up to 14-6-3 after tonight, and Cristobal Huet is my idol! He just won his 6th game in a row, achieved his 2nd shutout of the season, and has the top GAA in the league with 1.93, and the top save percentage in the league with 0.943. Um, Vezina Trophy anyone? If he keeps this up.... wow.
Peace,
Mike.

The Atlantic Division could turn out to be a highly competetive one this year, now that the Bruins seem to be involved. They're 7-3 in their last 10 and finally seem to be clicking as a team. And, they're only seven points of of second place. For a team that struggled so much at the start of the season, that's pretty good at this point. Now it's just a question of whether they can mantain this. A four team race for second (Unless Buffalo struggles for a two week span), and rankings in the conference, is going to be a lot of fun to watch.

From now on, whenever I ease a finger into my anus, I'll think of Dany Heatley.
Seriously, does anyone else get off on how good this guy is??

There are so many better players than Heatley.
I will admit I'm biased, because I HATE Heatley, but there really are so many better players than Heatley.
Peace,
Mike.

Can they claim to have scored two hat tricks in less than a week? I think not.

Bruins win again as they beat the Lightning in a shootout, 4-3. With the win they have now won 8 of their last 11, but still remain in the fifth place in the Atlantic thanks to the win by Ottawa. They did gain ground on everyone else though in the division which is good. What's even better is that they have played the least amount of games in the divison so there is even more ground to cover.
Now if we can only get more than half of the Garden filled (There had to be only 8,000 people there tonight, if that), things might start to look pretty good.

Wow, Edmonton got embarrasedddd... fans were booing them, and for good reason, getting your ass handed to you 4-0 by Columbus. That team looked pretty decent by the way, I think they have good enough players to be about .500, and with Hitchcock they'll finally be able to utilize them.
But wow, Oilers are terrible without Smyth and Hemsky... awful.

Where's Gary Bettman's so-called new wave of refereeing? Because all I see are bullshit calls night after night after night, which have cost teams points. If Edmonton misses the playoffs by 1 or 2 points, for example, they have the refs to blame for that ridiculous call early in the season.
I'd like to see harsher punishments for referees who make shit ass calls.
Peace,
Mike.

Looks like the Leafs have finally started to suck... things were going good until the 3rd, then the Hossa/Kozlov line on Atlanta opened a can of whoop-ass on them. I swear to god Slava Kozlov is the most underrated player in the league, would you believe in my pool this year I got him about 73rd overall... scored 71 points last year, being forgotten until that late is unforgivable.

Raycroft sucks and continues to suck, although he did play well for 2 periods tonight, I'll give him that.
And when will the leafs learn? When Sundin is playing, the rest of the team starts playing worse. I don't know what it is, but when Sundin is in the line up, the rest somehow feel they don't need to play as hard. This is 5 straight losses now, all since Sundin has been back!
Peace,
Mike.

There will be a moment of silence tonight at the Habs hockey game for Montreal GM Bob Gainey's daughter Laura. As you all have probably already read (if you follow hockey and read articles), Laura was swept off her boat by tall waves and lost at sea, and it's well past the 36 hours the the US Coast Guard estimated she could survive. He also suspended the aerial search for Laura.
Bob Gainey and his other 3 children are in my prayers, and I still hope, just maybe, somehow, a miracle will happen and Laura's body will at least be found to make for closure on the matter. I feel so much for Bob Gainey, who already had to deal with the loss of his wife due to brain cancer years ago.
Win your game tonight Habs! Win it for Bob.
Peace,
Mike.

Habs won.
By the way, Hitchcock is making Philly look bad.
Since Ken Hitchcock has been head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets, they have won 6 of their 9 games played total, and they have won their last 5 games including tonight's downing of Dallas. That's right, they're on a 5 game winning streak, and they just beat Dallas IN Dallas, something the team has never EVER done before.
In this streak, they shutout Edmonton and Colorado, and have outscored their opponents 21 to 4!!
To make it all the more impressive, before Hitchcock was named head coach of the team, Columbus had one winning streak of 2 games, and had won only 5 of 20 games played! That's it! Hitchcock has already won MORE games with the team as coach in 9 games, then the previous coach managed in 20 games!
That, my friend, cannot be a coincidence.
(Meanwhile, Philadelphia continues to suck.)
Peace,
Mike.

Columbus from the beginning always had playoff-caliber players, they have a good team. They just played like shit with the old coaching, and now Hitchcock is tapping their potential.

Sidney Crosby: 6 points tonight.
Flashes of why the hype is deserved, heh.

Just insane. He's also the top points leader, and top assists leader. That may not last long, but he has consistently stayed in the top five in both categories. And Pittsburgh is doing fairly well in the past week or so, after a great season start followed by a slump. I hope the Pens keep it up.

4 more points last night for Crosby. He's now 7 points ahead of 2nd place for Points Leaders.

The Bruins from October showed up in the third period tonight. They played two periods of very good hockey and just didn't show up for the final 23 minutes. They were up 4-3 with 25 seconds left in the 3rd (6-on-3 for Columbus) and were lucky to walk out of Columbus (Which makes it even more pathetic) with a point. And now they have to sit for two days thinking about how this ended. At least they're still in 3rd in the division and have played the least amount of games out of the five teams.
And how about that Sabres 1st period?

My god, Washington played that terrible goalie who let in 4 goals on just 6 shots. I can't believe Kolzig wasn't their first choice for goalie when playing the best team in the conference. Really made no sense to me.
Peace,
Mike.
