I'm happy to see the Penguins doing better than they normally do. I remember them losing most of their first games the past few years, so it's good to see 4 wins and 3 losses for them so far. i hope they can keep up the good track record, especially with Sidney Crosby doing fairly well in his second year.

Bruins lose on a bullshit call. If you aren't going to call a blatant penalty on one end of the ice, don't call it on the opposite end 45 seconds later. Once that penalty was called, you just knew it was over.

Ah, Buffalo's inhumane streak is stopped. Suitable team in Atlanta to do it to, that team is definitley a big contender this year, this season's Carolina I'm thinking. Hossa, Kovalchuk, and Kozlov, quite the trio.
Pisani has scored 2 games in a row for Edmonton now, he's back... whew.

I can't believe how much Calgary sucks this year. It seems to be similar to Philly's situation I guess, the new NHL is about speed and finesse... and these teams are defensive and slow. Kipursoff was the only reason they made the playoffs last year I guess, but one of the worst in the league? Wow.
Toronto and Vancouver continue to do well. I maintain that both will make the playoffs, in rebound years.

Malkin scored again, so that's six in six games for him to start his career, which hasn't been done since the NHL's inaugural season. Pretty impressive.
Oil are down 2-1 right now, hopefully they can come back.

Detroit is struggling...
But they are in the process of moving from an old, power team to a younger, faster team.
They'll probably make the playoffs again... but lose in the first round.

Malkin is crazy. I think we're going to start seeing how scary Sid can be too as the season goes on, he's a playmaker, and now he has someone to make plays with... 3 point games will probably become pretty norm for him. I expect him to take the Hart, Malkin the Richard.

Martin St. Louis is fucking back. One of my favorites, so I'm happy to see him return to his "one of the best in the league" self. With Lecavlier also whooping, I'm kind of surprised Tampa isn't winning more actually. I guess it's just that they're kind of a two man team, with Richards taking the weak year now, and goaltending/defence not up to par yet. But they have potential this year to be good again.

Whoa, Slava Kozlov has 11 points in 4 games. And I have him in my hockey pool.
Got him in the 3rd round, 72nd player picked overall, complete steal. Honestly though it was far from pure luck, he had 70 last year and now he has Hossa on his line, and Atlanta is winning games. That's a guaranteed 80-90 points, I don't know what the hell people were thinking not snatching him earlier, just because he's not an A-list name...
Anyways, Calgary is back on track, and nice to see it too. Ottawa continues to suck... I don't think they'll be a top team this year, in fact the surprisngly good Leafs might even beat them. Then again maybe that's a good thing for the Senators, not being the #1 seed going into the playoffs only to be upset.
Vancouver is coming down to earth now, unfortunatley. Luongo doesn't seem to be as much of a saving grace as I thought he would, he's been mostly average actually, somehow.
Does anybody care about hockey?

I went to the Leafs vs Habs game today. Other than the Habs utterly disappointing me, it was still great to go see a hockey game. Tons of fun.
I find myself also rooting for Pittsburgh this season. They are of course always the underdog, but they are doing actually pretty darn well this season, and I hope they make the playoffs. Crosby, Staal, and Malkin have been great for them. Love to see younger guys doing so well.
Leafs look better at the moment then some teams, but they've played more games than almost all of the teams (a very stacked early schedule), and a lot more games than some teams.
Buffalo is UNSTOPPABLE. They've developed SO much confidence that they're able to even grab a win in games where they are down (in some cases even by 3 goals entering the third). They've done exceptionally well, and really deserve a lot of credit. Great, great work.
PEACE, Mike.

I'd argue Anaheim is more unstoppable at this point, to be honest. Buffalo is great in the clutch, but they have relied on late comebacks and OT/SO wins quite a lot this season. Anaheim is just full-out above every team they play, they're just so so strong. And we all know what defence does for championships.

That is precisely why Buffalo is the best at the moment. It takes an incredibly skilled, confident and mature team to realize that even when your down by 3 goals going into the third, the game isn't over. Most teams aren't this developed as a team for any particular season. Buffalo has the most points, the most wins, two solid goalies, a great team, great stats, and confidence to pull out a win even when it looks like a loss. Anaheim, among other teams like Dallas, San Jose, etc, are doing great too, but Buffalo is the top of this season so far if you look at any angle, as far as I see it. And I'm not of fan of them at all; in fact, I routinely cheer against them because they are a division rival of my favourite team. But boy, I can't help but admire the simply superb way they are playing.
PEACE, Mike.

I've also become a closet Penguins fan this year. That team is just to watch. And what is up with Slava Kozlov this year? That guys is crazy. Also, nice to see Cole comeback and have a nice few games. Up to 18 points now.

Well, well, well...looks like the Sabres aren't invincible after all.
...and that the Senators still have some life.

I do to.
But it sort of depresses me to see these guys, who are all around my age, do so well. Makes me feel a little unmotivated, heh.

It's because Ottawa finally put some faith in their good goalie: Emery. They continually underestimate him; I think he's better than they think. Gerber sucks, he has to go.
I was happy to see Buffalo lose, for obvious reasons.
Habs won once again. Me happy.
PEACE, Mike.

Yeah, the Sabers suck. Their jerseys are almost as bland and ugly as the city they play for.

Bruins win two in a row since God knows when, and win their first shootout since.......................uh................
They're 6-7-2 now and one point behind Ottawa for 4th place. The good news is that they have played 2 to 3 games less than everyone else so they could gain a couple of points here or there.

Bruins win again, beating the Washington Capitals 3-2 in overtime. Glen Murray got the winner. With the win the Bruins have now won four games in a row. Now if the three teams ahead of them in the division could start losing, that would be super.

Quietly, Nashville has only lost one regulation game since starting 0-3, they're 13-4-2 now. Granted their division is easy, but I'd say they're not much less elite than Anaheim and Buffalo, really.
Hitchcock got signed on with Columbus by the way, and that should sometime in the next few years make them the last of the recent expansion teams to get out of the basement.
