Yeah, the Mets are so stacked, I'm surprised their lead over the rest of the crappy NL isn't even bigger actually. I see them making the World Series pretty easily.
Yankees also look strong in the AL, though I'm hesitant over the subway series idea. It definitley won't be the Tigers, so that likely leaves the Yanks, Twinkies, and Oakland as a dark horse.

By the way, how wicked is Ryan Howard? He's going to zoom by 61 home runs, so if you eliminated the juiced up boys in McGuire, Sosa, Bonds, that would make him the legitimate all time home run leader. And he's only in his second year!

With Liriano out, a subway series looks more and more likely. I was so hoping to see Twins take the division and play Yankees in best of 7 with two aces.

The Red Sox are going to win 17 in a row and get back in the race. Just watch.
Well realistically, if the Twins make the playoffs they might squeak past the first round, but in the ALCS they'll get slaughtered against any team they play. I do think the White Sox will come from behind to win the Wild Card. The Sox and Tigers are the two teams that have a chance to beat the Yankees in the ALCS (If the Yanks lose to Oakland I'll be floored). The Tigers have the best pitching of the three, but will playoff experience mean anything? It'd be nice to see a Tigers/White Sox ALCS.

Yeah I have to agree, the Yankees are looking just as unstoppable as the Mets, really. They were on fire anyways, and now they have Matsui back too. They're so experienced too that a choke isn't likely, they're heads over everyone else and they know it. But then again I went 1 for 7 in last year's playoff game, so maybe it'll work out a different way.

Tigers may have the better pitching stats over the full season, but they haven't done much better than Royals in the second half. The only good thing is the remaining schedule is favorable. Can't see them being like White Sox last year, even though White Sox did look dire for a while before sweeping Indians.

Twins win while Tigers are idle. Tigers next have the Orioles to the Twin's Indians. I think that really works in Detroit's favor, and they could be up by 3 games by next week. Johan has to be human sometime, lol.

No, always count on Minnesota winning at least 1 out of every 5 games.

Tonight was the first good night for Red Sox fans in a long time.
Not only was it great to see David Ortiz break Jimmie Foxx's Red Sox record of 50 home runs in a season, it was fantastic to watch him extend his record to 52.

Wow St. Louis, wow. From 8 1/2 games up, ahaha. Still close, but what a collapse it would be.
I think it would be hilarious if Cinci ended up stealing this one, so unexpected. Nobody is talking about them beside the Stros, but they're only 2 1/2 back.

St. Louis wins, and the Astros are in the 15th inning. Absolutely essential game for Houston, their season is on the line here IMO. The difference between 1 1/2 back and 2 1/2 back with 4 games left is everything for them right now. The Reds lost by the way, so they're 3 behind and for the most part out of it.

It'd be a fitting end to the Red Sox season if the finale ends up getting rained out.

No, they win 9-0 in a rain shortened game.
The playoff matchups are all set up. Here they are.
American League
Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees: Game One - 8pm 10/3 (FOX)
Oakland Athletics vs. Minnesota Twins: Game One - 1pm 10/3 (ESPN)
National League
St. Louis Cardinals vs. San Diego Padres: Game One - 4pm 10/3 (ESPN)
Los Angeles vs. New York Mets: Game One - 4pm 10/4 (ESPN)
My picks; Yankees in four, Twins in four, Padres in four, Dodgers in four

Minnesota takes the Central on the very last day of the season! Gold.
I'll say: Yankees in 3, Twins in 4, Padres in 3, Dodgers in 5(shocker).
Mets have been terrible lately, ever since clinching it they've slacked off and lost continously, they're rusty because they haven't had anything to play for in a month. I predict that LA will blow out Pedro if he starts the first game, and from there the momentum will be theirs.
This entire playoffs is looking pretty exciting. On one hand in the AL you've got for kick-ass teams, all very dangerous and very capable. In the NL the Mets are way ahead but they've been slipping lately, then the Padres who are playing red hot, and who have the best closing staff in the game, with the Dodgers also decent. St. Louis is the only sitting duck.

Pedro is not going to be a factor in the postseason at all. He's injured. Next week he's due to have rotator cuff surgery. The recovery time is listed to be at eight months and that he'll be back sometime in June.

Fuck You Detroit.
Fuck You.
You should be kicked out of the playoffs for falling apart.
Bastards.

I am happy that 3 California teams are in the playoffs.
Also, I am rooting for the Dodgers all the way. The Padres have a good chance too.
But my predictions for who wins the world series will probably be the Yankees.

I'm loving the AL Playoffs. I wanted to see a Yankee/Tiger matchup, but sinc eYankees will walk over Detroit the ALCS will be intense. Twins have a chance if they can get Santana to start 3 games. I'm saying Yankees take it over the Mets in 6.

Twins would have to get to the ALCS first.
If Santana actually loses this game, it's looking grim for the Twins.

My predictions.
Padres and Carndinals may be down to the last games. Both teams are very strong. My prediction: Padres
Dodgers and Mets may be close too. Mets are the top team, but Dodgers are on a roll. They are about even in terms of wins and losses against each other. My prediction: Dodgers
Oakland and Minnisota will be interesting too, but I say Oakland will take the series.
Detroit has no chance against the Yankees. Yankess will cream them easily.
