United are on a rampage.

As for Sunderland, well it looks like Niall Quinns honeymoon is offically over.

Seems like Boro are Chelski's bogey team.

Arsenal cruised into the CL group stages tonight which makes me happy

And check this stunning piece of news out (I'll be amazed if it happens)

The way they are being cagey, it might happen, and at least seems like they are having talks.

And in reference to your post a few up - apparently the manager did have a convo with the coach.

3 games tonight for me.

Boro beating Chelsea, more than deserved at that. Dinamo losing at Arsenal...even though I'm not a fan, too bad they didn't hold on to lead, or atleast draw. And Manchester beating Charlton. Harder than what result shows. First Ole goal in god knows how long, and second game in a row where I see Ronaldo being...more mature I guess. Played really good game, without shananigans.

EDIT: Link wont load for me, but could see title. Keane, as in Roy to Sunderland? Hmmmm...

Oh yes, saw this earlier, forgot to add this link:

FIFA is basically threating the Italian federation with an international ban if Juve appeals its punishment in the regular courts.

FIFA are perfectly justified I think. If there is any sniff of a chance that club/countries can bypass FIFA and use the justice system there would be chaos.

Its football, FIFA are the supreme authority anything else isn't a smart route.

They did.

Why do I have the feeling the scandal soap opera may prove more interesting than the actual Serie A season (if they ever have one).

This whole Serie A kissy fit seems to occur at the beginning of every season. If it isn't TV rights its Finacial problems or corruption charges.

They should just demolish all the Serie A stadiums and teams and start over.

Champions League draw. Chelsea drew Barcelona in Group A.

Interesting thought - if FIFA bans all Italian clubs, what does that do to the draw? I haven't seen that discussed anywhere. Has anyone?

Chelsea vs Barcelona will be a great game, I'll expect plenty of incident.

As for the threat against Italian clubs well we know FIFA have no problem enforcing it since all Greek club and international teams were banned from competition for a brief period there a month or 2 ago. If FIFA do crack the whip the Italians will have to fall in line no questions asked.

Chelsea - Barca? All I can see again is just Barca playing Chelsea off the park again.

The Italians temas will be fine I think, well maybe apart from Juve/Fiorentina/Lazio, I cant see FIFA punishing the other teams which werent related to the fixing . .

International goalkeeper Joey Didulica has been fined a mammoth 60,000 euro by the Austrian courts after been found guilty of assault after a mid air collision in a game on the 26th May last year.

Judge Bettina Neubauer suspended half of the amount on condition Didulica, 28, does not break the law for a year. He also has the choice of going to prison for a year instead of paying the fine.

“Obviously I am disappointed by the decision of the court in the hearing." Didulica said

It would be easy to walk away now and accept the punishment. The same way it would have been easy to accept the initial offer from the prosecution. I have a wife and child on the way and it would make their lives easier if I stopped now.

The hard decision is to fight for the truth and fight for what I know in my heart is right, that I never wanted to hurt anyone. That is why I am appealing the decision. I am not a criminal. I am a football player who gives everything he has for his team, his coach and the supporters. If that is a crime, then it is the only one that I am guilty of."

:(

Seemingly offtopic but has some connections. As much as I would like much severe penalties for Italian clubs, hell, even whole federation (happened to England, albeit for a much worse incident), but can't stand by FIFA after I remembered this incident with Didulica. FIFA is one giant hypocritical pile of shit. They themselves should've punished clubs involved long time ago.

Take the year in jail!!

Hope the same fate lies for that thug Ben Thatcher (who has quite a history of sickening fouls).

So, you are for out-of-football authorities to prosecute players?

Definately in some cases. Such as the above case. You can tell when a player is goin in for a fair tackle, in this case why the raised elbow? Why is he not going for the ball? Why is he not atleast looking at the ball? The rules of the land dont, and shouldn't change when the player steps on to the playing field. I mean, a regular shoulder block wouldnt send you into a seizure, and leave you unconcious for a few hours. Bowyer and Dyer were punished by the police for their onfiled fight, so out of football authorities prosecuting isnt exactly a new thing. So, in answer to your question, yes.

Yeah, but who's to say what case is the right case? You here say why the raised elbow...Thatcher is a bastard, that's all. But FA is to deal with him, not police.

Should've Rooney been greeted with police after stomping on Carvahlo's jewels? That seemed pretty malicious, and quite dangerous. Referee thought it was on purpose, no doubt Carvahlo the same, I'd say they would be quite the witnesses. Zidane headbutt? Why not that as well? As much as it may sound ridiculous, such a hit could could be quite dangerous. Roy Keane 'confessed' that he tried to hurt Man City (I think) player, Schumacher's famous tackle...plus, there were quite a few fouls that 'looked better' than Thatcher's one, but were worse for the injured player. Don't think anyone could be completly right in deciding the right case.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for big punishments for such fouls (not for Rooney's though, it was unintentional!! ;)), but only from FA, FIFA, UEFA,...side.

But anyway, was not my point in posting that. It was just troubling to me how FIFA can threat Greeks, Italians for out-of-football authorities being brought into football, yet, stood silent when happened in Austria.
