 The "Traveler" Thread (Season 1)
Okay, well, I suppose several of you have heard of this new series coming to ABC. Here's the full synopsis:
http://www.abcmedianet.com/specials/u/n ... body.shtml
I have seen the pilot and man, if the rest of the show can keep up with that, we're in for another ABC hit series. It was awesome. It's a great concept and looks like they could execute it well.
Anyone else seen it already?

I did. I saw a few other pilots (Shark, Jericho, The Nine, Rules of Engagement, The Class), and of them all, this was the only one to completely blow me away. I loved it. It was a real thrill-ride from start to finish. If they can keep this up, it'll be great.
Unfortunately, it's not even on ABC's fall schedule. It's a midseason series.

How were The Nine and Jericho? Those were the only other ones that I was interested in.

Eh, I don't like the premise.
X-Files ruined government conspiracies for me.

The Nine was good, not great. It's a major drama, not an action-packed series at all. That's not a bad thing, but I don't feel compelled to watch the next episode this fall. I'd give the pilot a B.
Jericho was okay. Again, I'm not sure how far the plotline can be stretched (too many shows are going for this "mystery" thing, and so far, only "Lost" still has potential to last a few seasons. To me, "Jericho" could be wrapped up in a few episodes, so I hope there's more to it. Like "The Nine", I think "Jericho" is being set up as a character drama, moreso than a mystery show. I'd give this pilot a C+.
As for the rest?
Shark was a lot of fun, only because of James Woods. It's basically "House", except with lawyers. Much like "House", one of the only reasons to watch the show is the lead character, played by Woods. Even though it's "House" with lawyers, I still enjoyed it enough to watch this fall. Grade: B+
The Class was bad, bordering on bland. David Crane (proving himself to be the unfunny part of the duo that created "Friends") and Jeffrey Klarik write a mediocre script, but the acting is painfully bad. The majority of the cast look and sound like they're retarded, or at least have some mental problems. Anyone expecting this to be the next "Friends" will be severely disappointed. Grade: C
Rules of Engagement (a midseason series starring Joey's Paulo Costanzo and Patrick Warburton) is not even good in any way. It baffles me how Warburton gravitates toward bad movies and TV shows. Your typical relationship sitcom, except it's nowhere near tolerable. Grade: D

I've just been NBC's Heroes. I was really impressed by this pilot, and not only that, unlike a lot of new shows which set themselves up for a short stay on TV, Heroes sets itself up with enough to tell for a few seasons. The big mysteries of the show don't need to be answered immediately, nor will they. It's a character-driven show, with some great moments in just the first episode.
I don't want to give anything away. Aside from Traveler, Heroes is the show to watch this fall. Grade: A-/B+

I think if you really like Lost, you'll like Heroes. I'm not sure how much you like Lost, so it depends. I don't think it's identical to Lost... I dunno. I don't want you to really get excited for it, then get disappointed. It's a strong possibility.

Well, I saw Jericho. I thought it was pretty decent, though clichéd at times. I think it seems a lot like Lost, only with a cut-off town substituting for an island. Ned to see more.

Just watched the second episode. Very promising. Too bad it has to go soon : ( So much potential. Though the second episode wasn't as excellent as the first, it was still very interesting.

Watched the first 2 episodes today. Boy, what a fun summer show. I'm really sad that there's only eight episodes.

Just watched the third episode. It's exhilarating. Of course, it is dumb at times and all, but it is the best new pure fun series I've seen in a while. Starting the fourth episode right now.

I hope ratings improve this week. It's a shame that this doesn't have a big shot at a second season.

I'd watch it if I knew when it was on. I never see any ads for it.

I saw the most recent episode. The one where near the beginning the guy shoots a tracking device into Traveler which is then removed.
It's fun, it has some things I'd nitpick about but it has a lot of potential and worthy of keeping around.

Re: The "Traveler" Thread (Season 1)
Anyone else finished the short-lived series? I'm quite sad that it was cancelled. So much potential. It's silly at times, but overall very fast-paced, suspenseful and has plentiful of nice twists. The "series finale" left wanting so much more...

Re: The "Traveler" Thread (Season 1)
I really enjoyed this show for however brief it was.
Definitely too bad it was not continued.
