I'm not gonna say Game 2 was meaningless, but I honestly think it didn't do much for the position of the series. All it did really was set up Game 3, which will be uber. Having a 1-1 tie would be nice, but I think if the Oilers can storm back in Rexall to make it 2-1, the series won't be any less wide open. They'll be in that San Jose position again, and the fans would go ballistic. In that situation they would have a shitload of momentum, which they wouldn't have in a tied series. Really, this was the most affordable game to lose.

Game 3, that's easily the most important one of the playoffs. If Carolina wins, series over. If Edmonton wins, it's a whole new ball game. Man. Can't freaking wait.

Good first period by the Oilers. They aren't flying crazily like they were in Game 3 of the San Jose series, but that's probably a good thing. They're using their energy when they need it. Maarkenen is playing great, those 2 saves on the Carolina powerplay were excellent. Goaltending without Roloson isn't nearly as bad as we thought, so if the Oilers take this game a Stanley Cup is still very possible.

Biggest problem so far: Special teams. Carolina had more chances on their first powerplay than the Oilers' 3 combined, including the 2 man advantage. That kill at the end was good though, if the Canes scored there it would've been a backbreaker.

:)

Mick Magoo needs glasses! A 2-0 lead going into the 3rd would've been wonderful, I can't believe they can't look at the video replay to call that a goal. Dumbest rule ever(not counting the delay of game call of course, heh.)

Carolina is apeshit in 3rd periods, so while I'll take a 1-0, I'm far from confident. Jussi is doing awesome, so that's obviously a non-factor. I just hope we can close this out, to give ourselves at least a chance to come back.

We have a series now, thank god. Maarkenen was magnificent tonight, he was as good as Roloson in some of his best games these playoffs. Ward was also strong as always, so it'll be a nice matchup from here on out. Game 4 will still be a battle, but holy damn if we win it, the Stanley Cup is coming back to Edmonton.

I disagree that the Edmonton winning goal was actually a goal...

I do think it was a goal, but it doesn't matter, you know why? Because the refs called off an Edmonton goal earlier in the game that WAS a goal, but the ref was a stupid moron like most refs are. So, Edmonton wins fair and square. Infact, if Carolina had won by a goal, I'd be pissed, since the refs stupidity and never being in the right place to "see the puck" would have singlehandedly lost Edmonton the game.

By the way, to all, Jussi did FABULOUS. If Edmonton wins this cup, this could very well boost his career (or kill it if they lose).

PEACE, Mike.

I think Jussi did well enough in this game, that he'll get a boost no matter what. If he loses, there'll be a valiant effort praise even if he loses.

Conklin on the other hand, is finisheeedddd.

I missed the game again. I keep having to work. I did catch a bit of the highlights, but I missed the goal that was called back. Why was it disallowed? And Smyth's goal was a goal. No doubt about it. ;)

I heard some stuff about Carolina being sore losers. This is good for Edmonton. If the 'Canes are going to pout about their losses, then the Oilers can take advantage and win the next game, which, luckily, I'll be able to watch. ;)

It was the rule where the ref stops the play if he can't see the puck.

Basically, after a shot the puck landed in front of Ward(who was sitting), between his outstretched legs. The ref somehow couldn't see it due to Ward's body, so he blew the whistle to stop the play, a couple milliseconds before Moreau scored. If they reviewed the play, they could've easily seen there was nothing close to a coverage, so it was kind of dumb. Thankfully we still won though.

Now I'm glad I didn't watch. I would have thrown my TV through my window after that. :nonono:

Nice. Really glad to see the Oilers take Game 3. If they lost this, they could have kissed their chances goodbye.

Let's go Oilers in Game 4!

Game 4 tonight.

Finally get to watch one. Looking forward to it. If the Oil win then they've got the advantage and the momentum. If the Canes win then it's series over. Very important game.

I've got soccer practice, but I should be able to catch the 3rd period.

Oilers deserved to lose. Jussi was the only thing stopping it from being about a 4-1 game, everyone just played like shit.

If they win the next game though, they'll have a chance to force Game 7 at home. I don't predict they'll do it, but it's not impossible.

Interesting tidbit of information(thanks Sportscentre!):

The last team to come back from 3-1 in the finals to win the Cup, was the 1942 Maple Leafs. Coincidentally, that was the famous year that they came back all the way from 3-0.

I don't know the last time a team has came back from a straight 3-1 deposit, it's probably never been done in history.

So yeah, the Oilers are in tough. Really really tough.

Woohoooooo! Short handed goal in OT, and Edmonton wins!

Great stuff. However, it is what I expected (in my prediction at least). I predicted Carolina to get it in 6. So, I think they'll win the next game. But Edmonton just got great momentum from winning on a shorthanded goal in OT!

PEACE, Mike.

My Gretzky avatar is making a return. I took it away after Roloson was injured, but now it's back. I still believe. Oilers in 7!

Too bad they lost game 4, because they would've been in a really good position right now. :(
