I've said it before and I'll say it again - WB's marketing & licensing departments are almost begging for the jokes...

I totally agree with you. He looks like the soap opera actor that he is. And that's NOT a good thing. It has me curious as to just how good an actor he truly is.

Just watched Trailer 2 on RT. Routh looks the part, but his voice is a little thin and squeaky for Superman. If Routh were going to be so great, then why does the trailer have so little of him? It's all Spacey.

Hi and Welcome Ashwani! :bye:

Many of us think it will do lower than $250M, but $250M is a reasonable number. (not a penny over though. :) )

Here is my take on it.

I saw Brandon Routh at Showest and hes certainly got the body for Superman. What he lacks is the face. He doesn't need to be 10 years older. Just 2 or 3 years will make the difference.

Superman is the voice of wisdom but at the same time, hes meant to be young .. meant to look young. he is meant to be somewhat of a babyface. Brandon seems to have all of that but what he lacks is authority, something Superman also had.

Christopher Reeve i think was a bit too old for Superman but what made him great was that he just .. fit right into it. He had the authority, and the intimidation. I guess we'll have to see how Brandon is when the film finally opens.

It's just like Brokeback's "saliva for lubrication" scene, or the "dis-robing scene" in The Crying Game. While showing those sequences in the trailers would have been a great marketing move, you need to save something special and unexpected for the film itself.

In all seriousness, the complete lack of Routh acting on display is one of the primary reasons I'm skeptical about this film.

What were the point of the cards, anyway? If they're trying to sell the movie to a younger audience, I must say that there are some seriously disturbed people working at the Warner Bros ad department. :hahaha:

Wow webby, 33 posts in two days. Looks like someone is starting to get obsessed with KJ.

Call it bottled up posting fever.

Anyway, my predicts:

Wednesday: $29.5 million
Thursday: $16.8 million
Friday: $26 million
Saturday: $30 million
Sunday: $23.4 million
3-Day: $79.4 million
5-Day: $125.7 million

Maybe it is just wishful thinking, seeing that I am really looking forward to the film, but I really think SR can do this. Its ad campaign has been good so far, but there's still a lot that could happen before June 28, especially if the "gay Superman" thing gets blown out of proportion and people respond by not going.

At any rate, it will be crushed by Pirates the next weekend.

Yes, by about 30 mill, which does not make it a bomb.

it was quiet cause nobody was laughing. then alba says first up, its not a bird, its not a plane, its the cast from superman returns, and then they erupted. wasn texpecting that. jamie foxx then came out to literally half the applause.

That's a freaking great thing for this movie's marketing.

Like I said in another thread, it's really strange that at BOM, there are fanatical fanboys expecting $400 million+, and here there are users thinking it could fall short of $200 million. I could really see it going either way: surprisingly huge or surprisingly low.

Say what you like about the film's BO prospects (I still think it'll do $200 mil easy, and has a great chance of breaking $300 mil), the poster artwork for this film is truly phenomenal.

Excellent poster. That should attract some females until Pirates steals every one of them.

no way. i could see it being a big dissapointment and stoping between 215-230 on the very low side, or i could see 325 million+ on the high side.

but under 200 million just isnt happening unless the marketing completely stops.

oh, and has anybody else bought the novel? i just finished it, and after a great first half, the action takes over, and the finale is huge mix of action and emotional. it should be a really spectacular AND touching grand finale.

Nice poster, but one could very well be disgusted at how it is trying to imitate Spider-Man. A lot of the marketing imitates Spider-Man, and I think that will harm it in the public's eyes.
