Lol, awesome.
And yeah, I'm not caring at all for Buffalo/Carolina either. I like that Buffalo is a hockey city, and they play fast, but the fact that they have no recognizable or any franchise star players makes their games boring. None of the players stand out, there's nothing to get excited over when one gets on the ice.
And Carolina, they're more recognizable, but I can't stand them anyways. The fact that they're from a state that doesn't care about Hockey makes me uninterested.

My gut says it's Buffalo tonight, and I'm cheering for them as well.
Just so Carolina doesn't make the finals.
LET'S GO BUFFALO.

I'm pulling for Carolina. I hate Buffalo (mostly because of Ruff, Briere, and Miller) and I think Edmonton would have a better chance again the 'Canes.
Halfway through the game, it's pretty even. 1-0 Hurricanes. The Sabres are holding up pretty good considering they're ravaged by injuries, but Carolina's had a lot of chances. I can see Carolina pulling away in this one.

Oh, what a stunning turnaround. I think Buffalo definitley has the advantage now.

Nooooooooooooooo
The delay of game penalty is fruity. If it's clearly intentional, it should be a penalty. But if it goes over by accident? It's a shame the Sabres had to go down like that.
Oh well. I guess Edmonton vs Buffalo was too good to be true, just like Anaheim vs Carolina was too bad. This is a suitable middle ground. Ultimate heroes vs Ultimate Villians all the same.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
I reaaaaaally hope Edmonton downs Carolina, but I'm not having good hopes. Carolina ALWAYS seems to get the luck to pull through in dire, final circumstances, so even if Edmonton plays super well, Carolina will win off a fluke or something.
Bleh. This sucks. BOOO CAROLINA.
PEACE, Mike.

While I'm disappointed that a team from Carolina has made the Stanley Cup Finals, this bodes well for Edmonton, I think. Carolina's a similar type of team to San Jose and Anaheim (a few star players, not a lot of depth) and we all saw what Edmonton did to them. And I'm glad Buffalo didn't make the finals - I loathe that team.
I would have prefered Ottawa or Montreal to be facing Edmonton, though. An all-Canadian Cup final would be so sweet...

Game One tonight! WOO HOO!
Unfortunately, I'm working tonight, so I won't be able to catch it, though I'll watch the highlights. Same deal for Wednesday. I'm not really interesting in watching the games in Carolina, anyway (mostly because of the mediocre fans) but I'll make sure to watch the games here.

Damn you Ty Conklin!!!
Ahh, that's a crappy way to end it. The game was pretty equal though, and this will be a great series regardless.
Cam Ward = Invincible. Somebodys gotta youtube those two glove saves, they were incredible.

The first glove save, I think he embellished it to look more spectacular than the actual save was, but the second one, the last save of the game, was simply unconscious. It's incredible that he had the reflex and flexibility to raise his arm while being on the floor in an awkward position.

Roloson's finished for the series. Oh god.
That means the floor is set for an absolute miracle, but I doubt it. Maybe if they pulled a miracle goalie out of nowhere, or maybe if Calgary lent us Kipursoff for a series, heh.
Honestly, I think it'll be a Carolina sweep now. First Buffalo loses all their defencemen, then Edmonton has to play Ty Conklin in net. Combine that with the fact that Carolina has the most unenthusiastic hockey fanbase in the NHL, and I think this might just be the worst Stanley Cup win in the history of the game.

Wow, what a game.
How embarrassing for the Oilers to let in that terrible winning goal for Carolina! The last few seconds of the game was SUPER TENSE though. Great great game to watch!!!
Thought Oilers had it when they were up 3-0, but too bad.
PEACE, Mike.

Boy oh boy, poor Roloson is out, for good. Mannnnnnnn, that sucks. He is the reason the Oilers have made it this far. A huge loss. I'm so sad.
PEACE, Mike.

This is the worst I've felt in a long time...
I didn't watch the game, but I heard about it afterward. Oilers are done now. Carolina sweep.
I agree with Shack. Worst Cup win ever.

Just watched a news report, there is barely a soul on Whyte Avenue tonight. There are more police than fans.
Edmonton is crying.

Well, to be fair, Edmonton is still in and could win. They did lose the first game, and they did lose Roloson, but who knows. I wouldn't give up hope YET, at least.
And irregardless, Oilers making it to the finals for the first time in 17 years is absolutely awesome. They overcame some great teams to make it this far! I'm very impressed and very proud of them.
PEACE, Mike.

Edmonton will win this. It will be in 7 games, but they will rally around each other. Mark it right here.
Edmonton in 7!!

I agree the Oilers still have a shot, albeit a tiny one. They did spend most of the season without Roloson, and managed to get into the playoffs; and Markkanen did win five games in a row in November. As long as they play him and not Conklin, they've got a chance. Conklin is a frikkin' moron.
It's just not looking good.

Game 2 tonight. The goalie is still unknown, though I'm betting it's Maarkenen. He just seems a bit more level-headed and sturdy, and Conklin has his confidence shaken now. It's not like these guys are bad, Conklin did a brilliant job winning a world championship for the US, and they still had the team over .500 in the season, but it'll still be a really tough hurdle.
Oilers need to win in a forceful way tonight though, no matter which way you put it.

5-0 Carolina, and yet it wasn't even Maarkenen's fault. 3 power play goals, 4 deflections, and the Oilers just generally played like a monkey's anus. They didn't test Ward, they weren't physical enough, and they elected not to shoot in golden oppurtunities. In my opinion, what happened at the end of Game 1 just got them so dejected, the team itself was the problem tonight.
I don't think the series is over yet, judging by the fact that the goalie wasn't too much of an issue, but the next game is an obvious must. They have to go into crazy Rexall, and blow them away like they did with San Jose. If they win the next game, I'd say they're very much still in it.

I agree, it wasn't Markkanen's fault. He actually did play pretty well.
I wish Edmonton didn't have to lose so sorely though. I mean 5-0 is hurtful. It would been nicer if it wasn't so lopsided.
Still, in any event, Carolina is expected to win at home. Edmonton can still come back when they've got Edmonton fans storming up the stadium. And I think Markkanen has proven he has some moves. So I am not giving up yet, nuh-uh.
PEACE, Mike.
