Yeah, I want Buffalo to win too. I wouldn't want Carolina to be in the finals, if they won the cup I would cry. I just can't stand them, and their city doesn't even pay attention to hockey at all.
By the way, after watching a bit of the game, I'm convinced Edmonton has a great shot at winning the whole damn thing. Both Buffalo and Carolina are good, but they're not...great. They're just good. The Tampa Bay team from 04 was MUCH stronger, they were an unbelievable squad with a shitload of heart. I kind've knew in those finals that they would beat Calgary, they were just the better team.
But this year, I actually think I'd pick Edmonton as the favorites and the best team left. God, I can't believe they might actually take it, it's fantastic and mind-blowing.

I know! And it would be an all-out shame if either Carolina or Buffalo won it. Our neighbours south of the border just don't appreciate the Cup like we do.

Buffalo chances of winning keep getting worse because they keep losing players to injuries. Connolly, Kalinin, Numminen, and now probably Tallinder. They'll need to use defenseman that have never played a single NHL game this year. It's a crying shame.
And Cotton, trust me, the Buffalonians live close enough to Canada to fully appreciate it if the Sabres win the cup. From what I understand, our home games sold out in 15 minutes, whereas not only did the Carolina games not sell out, they had a sizable amount of Sabres fans too.

If Buffalo won, it wouldn't be quite as bad as Carolina or Anaheim winning it, where the fans just don't care. I remember reading something about the mayor of Raleigh not even wanting the team there.
I still think the Oilers are gonna win it all.

Oh, do Americans post in this thread as well? How embarassing for me.
Yeah, I know what you're talking about actually. When I was watching the Buffalo/Ottawa games, I'd notice that the Buffalo fans were among the most enthusiastic and rambunctious I've ever seen. I seriously thought at one point that the glass partitions would break from being banged-on repeatedly by them crazy Buffalonians.

Buffalo and Edmonton are huge hockey/NHL cities. They both deserve to be in the finals. Carolina, in comparison, is NOTHING.
PEACE, Mike.

Ah well. The Oilers lost. It had to come some time. Anaheim played quite well, and the reffing (especially in the first period) was quite biased. I'll take comfort in the fact that the Oilers will still win the series.

They put Giguere back in net, which was a very smart move, in my opinion. They are fighting hard to stay alive.

Well, part of me still thinks the Oilers don't really "deserve" to be there over some of the better teams. Don't get me wrong, I'm still pulling for them majorly, but despite leading the series 3-1, Anaheim has out shot them pretty much every game. Also, I'm still trying to figure out how they managed to beat the Red Wings.
I guess they're just better at capatilizing on their chances.

Well, the last line was meant as a compliment.

I'm pretty disappointed with Edmonton's comments. I really hope they don't get sloppy now. Anaheim outshot Edmonton 25 to 3 (yes, 25 to 3!!) in the first period, and when interviewing a couple players, they comment how Anaheim got a lucky foot goal in the first period. That's just a rather stupid thing to say which I felt was almost a take at trying to undermine Anaheim and their efforts, when Anaheim freaking outshot Edmonto 25 to 3 in that period. More like hard work, not just luck, bud. There were other comments too. Not to mention Anaheim outshout them 46 to 23 in the whole game too.
Didn't sit well with me, their comments. I cheer for the Canadian teams like any other Canadian, but I did not like that.
PEACE, Mike.

I didn't see it, but that is a bit weak. Kind of like in the 2004 finals when one of the Calgary players said that they'll be "Verryyy disappointed" in a cocky way if they didn't win the cup(when they were up 3-2), it was like a jinx and I just knew they would lose after that.
I hope the Oilers can bounce back and finish them off next game, otherwise ... oh ho ho.

Edmonton needs to take Game 5. Otherwise, a 3-2 lead will quickly become a 3-3 tie, and before long, Anaheim is in the finals.

Oilers up 2-1 after two. Just like the first two in Anaheim. Let's see how it turns out...

I'm pretty sure it'll be the Canes who they'll face, so it'll be the ultimate heroes vs the ultimate villians. It'll either be one of the most joyous moments in years, or one of the most utterly painful.
Come on Oilers.

And by the way, the Oilers are the first 8th seed in NHL history to make the finals. I'm surprised it hasn't been done before actually.

I was watching the news tonight and they were showing footage of the post-game celebrations in Edmonton last night. Damn, talk about some enthusiastic fans.
But nevertheless, in honour of the city of champions and the Oilers, here's a beautiful shot of the Edmonton skyline:

Ah, my beautiful city...
Is it wrong that I could care less about the Carolina/Buffalo series? I know I should be watching to size up Edmonton's opponent, but I can't bring myself to watch. Just doesn't interest me.
