We have last year beat. Lemony Snicket, Ocean's 12, Fokkers, and Blade are all locks to make it.
Bridget Jones has a 50/50 chance. Kranks has a good shot. The Aviator should make it as well. Spanglish is a tossup, but I think no.
Also, The Life Aquatic might make it by the end of the year, if it expands wide enough. But according to BOM, it;s only the top 25 markets, so it might not. It depends what kind of WOM it gets.
So:
100%
Lemony Snicket
Ocean's Twelve
Meet the Fokkers
Blade: Trinity
75%
The Aviator
Christmas with the Kranks
50%
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason
The Life Aquatic
25%
Spanglish
Less than 5%
Flight of the Phoenix
Finding Neverland (depending on expansions)

The following will definitely make it:
Ocean's Twelve
Meet the Fockers
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events
Finding Neverland
Blade: Trinity
The Aviator
The following have a great chance to make it:
Spanglish
Flight of the Phoenix
Closer
These are still in:
Sideways
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason
Other possibilities:
Hotel Rwanda

Say Hello to Christmas with the Kranks for being the 56th movie to do so.

I think at this rate, Blade III might struggle to make it (based on a mediocre weekend). Oceans Twelve and Lemony Snickets will close the Yearly gap, but will we keep up the the Holiday cume? That remains questionable.

Heck no unless the whole population turned into Liberace
Edit. Nm, I misread. I was thinking that this was a 50 million opener thread.

Actually, with all the buzz, Scorcese, good reviews, the PG 13 rating and the cast The Aviator is an absolute lock for $50 million

I moved it to 90%, but I think of Bridget Jones and Blade when thinking of the word "lock".

Hehe, I can undersand, but The Aviator is a completely different animal. If Gangs of New York can get 70M, there is no way The Aviator will gross less with all the things Arthur mentioned. There is also no LOTR film this year, so this is basically the epic film of the Christmas.

Yes, I would be very surprised if it fell short of 50m, but there always are things that happen at the BO that defy expectations and conventional wisdom. I've learned that too many times.
I would be very disappointed if it didn't reach 50m. It's one of my most anticipated for the year, and I'm predicting over 100m.

On Christmas Day, One Movie tied the record and the other broke the record. That's right, I'm talking about Meet the Fockers and Lemony Snickets. We now have 59 movies that hit 50 million.
