Um, it was all for last seasons tournament. I think the # of goals conceded by the goalkeeper also accounted for much. Can't say much for Riquelme. He wasn't even playing in the CL last season. Also, I dont think I've even seen him play at all.
I feel Villareal are going to get a beating from Man U.

I don´t think Villareal is going to get a beating from anyone. They may lose, but It surely won´t be easy.
Who is keeping score of the game, by the way? If you want, we could predict these three spanish matches this weekend:
Saturday
Valencia Vs. Betis
Alaves Vs. Barcelona
Sunday
Cadiz Vs. Real Madrid

There's little time for England league now, but Spanish one starts a bit later right?
So,
Saturday
Valencia Vs. Betis 2:1
Alaves Vs. Barcelona 0:2
Sunday
Cadiz Vs. Real Madrid 1:2
There's a Derby tommorow in Premiership though, so if enough people predict, here's mine as well...
Newcastle-Manchester United 0:1

Chelsea with that many money, good players, good coach, luck, has on their side referees as well.
Well, maybe just this one. First, Essien didn't get a red card when Davids was fouled while running clear to goal...and then sending off Mido. Foul while jumping for high ball with Terry, there was some elbow involved, but definatelly not for red card.
Referee stormed there holding red card like Mido broke both Terry's legs and then spit on him.
Yellow at most imo.
As for Chelsea's luck...just see Duff's goal. Something similar to Drogba's against Arsenal.

Hmmm... I wanna see the ighlights for that match. Have to remember where they show them here.
In any case, having such a good team and all, getting also favourable refeering decisions seems too much for Chelsea!
Final result
Alaves Vs. Barcelona 0:0
Shock!

What a bloody joke. Its unfair when the ref is a Chelsea fan, they shouldn't let fans ref bloody matches. Mido didn't get sent off for an Elbow, he got sent off for "Excessive force in a tackle" according to the referee. WTH? Thats confusing when there wasn't a tackle in the first place.

Ahhh well what done is done. We really did have a chance to win that match, if the 25minutes prior to the sending off were anything to go by. We dominated.

Hmmm... the decision seems dodgy, but I´d like to see the omages on TV. Maybe it´ll be on the news today, since the supposed victim is Del Horno, a spanish player.
Final result
Valencia Vs. Betis 1:0

haha, that should've been an easy 3 points for Barca. And Alaves promoted? Weren't they in the Uefa Cup final a 2-3 years ago?

Yup, they were. More like 4-5 years ago, though. Got relegated a couple of years later.
Stranger things have happened, though. Celta qualified for the Champions league. The year after (the one in which they played against the likes of Juve or Arsenal) they got relegated. They are back this year, though, only one season in hell!

Real didn´t play well at all. But Robinho, who came in with 30 minutes left with the score 1-1, was very, very impressive.
