I can't wait for the new seasons of The Simpsons, Family Guy, and The Apprentice.

Reunion - A TV series about a high school reunion? Fox, you can do better than this.
Ranking: 5 (changed based on extended synopsis provided by AgentX)

"Reunion" chronicles the lives of a group of six friends over the course of 20 years -- all in just one season. Will longs to leave his small town behind. Aided by an athletic scholarship, he will be the first in his family to go to college. Craig, handsome and privileged, looks forward to the Ivy League with his girlfriend, Samantha, whose ambition is surpassed only by her looks and intelligence. The beautiful and sensual Jenna dreams of becoming an actress; behind his cynicism, Aaron dreams that his relationship with Jenna will go beyond friendship. Carla, innocent and quirky, must choose between loyalty to her father and staying near her best friends. "Reunion" opens in 2005 at the funeral of one of the friends, whose death is being investigated by Det. Marjorino. But before the identity of the deceased is revealed, we're transported back to 1986, as the group is celebrating their high school graduation. Each subsequent episode chronicles the next year in the clique's lives.

Good guess though.

IMDB listed the show as being about a HS reunion. Thanks for the correction. Sounds more promising now.

Ah, I think IMDB confused this new Fox show with the WB's High School Reunion, which is a reality show in the form of a mini High School Reunion - well deserving of a 3.

I think Reunion looks great! I will be watching it when it airs after The O.C. this season.

I just finished watching the pilot of Reunion and though it isn't perfect, it did succeed in that I am really looking forward to the next episode.

The show frequently goes back and forth between 2005 and the year the episode is featuring, in this case 1986. This makes the present day scenes, a jumping off point for the unfolding of the plot. It works nicely in the pilot and allows one to freely jump back in time as the retelling unfolds. The unique passage of time in the series, where one year is equivalent to one episode is one of the selling points of the series, but I'm not sure if it works in practice.

In the pilot a span of no more than a week is covered fully, then three months are glossed over in the form of cutaway scenes with narration. I understand the need for this, but it just lessens the coolness factor of the time lapsing. You would think that only featuring three (or so) days would limit the amount of plot devices they could throw in, but not for FOX. Let's list what is presented to us in the first 44 minutes of the series, it's enough to fill multiple seasons of Dawson's Creek, Jack and Bobby, The O.C. and even Passions (well maybe not Passions)

- Rich guy and working class guy best friends
- Drunk Driving
- Vehicular manslaughter
- Innocent passenger takes fall for drunk, rich best friend
- Innocent passenger goes to jail for best friend
- Unrequited love that turns out at the end to be requited
- Unrequited love that stays unrequited with a heartbreaking end
- Love triangle
- Teen Pregnancy
- Abortion
- Gun violence

The storyline that made me roll my eyes the most was the whole love triangle between Craig (privleged guy), Samantha (his girlfriend) and Will (best friend, who is suggested didn't get along with Samantha) I could have sworn to have seen this on Dawson's Creek in S3. Naturally for a brief time when Samantha and Craig were broken up, Will and Samantha slept together and she got pregnant. She tells Will, but later says it was a false alarm, because she's going to have an abortion. During all of this teenage craziness, Will's getting thrown in the slammer and he's okay with it because it sorts evens out the sleeping with Samantha part. He goes away thinking that there's no baby, but Samantha has other plans as she does not go through with the abortion and instead moves away from Craig, to London on a scholarship. It's still too much for a 44 minute episode.

By the end of the episode every one is going their separate ways, except for two friends who are going to London, one wasn't made entirely clear the reason why. And just when you thought 1986 was crazy, in 2005 one of the main characters all grow'd up says 1987 was even crazier!

Characters:

Craig - The privleged guy, loves Samantha
Most like: Dawson from Dawson's Creek
Will - The best friend who's going to jail for Craig, knocked up Samantha
Most like: Jack from Jack and Bobby and Joey from Dawson's Creek
Samantha - The pregnant girl in the love triangle moving to London
Carla - In love with Aaron, moves to London with Samantha
Most like: Anna from The O.C.
Aaron- Quirky guy who is madly inlove with Jenna
Most like: Seth from The O.C.
Jenna - The slutty one, who realizes she deserves to be loved
Most like: Jen from Dawson's Creek

So overall I think Reunion is worth watching, the plot moves quickly with multiple story lines going at the same time, so there's always something happening. The acting is fine, but I only really cared what happened to two of the six main characters. It maintained my interest throughout and had several moments where it peaked, most significantly and importantly at the end. Looking forward to September 15th and episode 2.

Yeah. Apparantly thats her natural hair, they curled it every work day for Season 1 and 2 for the character.

By the way do you know anything about the girl that won that WB Startlet show or whatever? The prize for the winner was a slot on the show. She cameod for like a second(I'm pretty sure it was her, showed in the credits) as the girl moving in Brooke's house. Some rich girl. She seemed pretty likable, and it would fit right in. They have lots of supporting, meaning characters just hanging around in the show, she could be one of those like Skills or Theresa or something. Or she could be a big character.

TV Gal over at zap2it.com has checked out the new fall season, and it looks like...

The good ones are:
Commander-in-Chief
How I Met Your Mother
My Name is Earl
Everybody Hates Chris
Threshold
Kitchen Confidential
Prison Break

And the crap ones, not too surprisingly, are:
Night Stalker
Surface
Ghost Whisperer
Killer Instinct
E-Ring
Freddie
Sex, Love & Secrets

She says My Name is Earl is the season's best new comedy. And How I Met Your Mother has Friends potential. Wow.

ER and That 70's Show need to be put out to the Pasture.. Hell, Noah Wyle isn't even on ER anymore and the new cast sucks.. As for That 70's Show?? How are they continuing on with this show without it's 2 lead characters meaning Eric Forman(Topher Grace) and Kelso(Ashton Kutcher)??? Hell at this point, it's not even the 70's anymore but more like 1985 or something... :-k
