I wasn't sarcastic. In fact, I was giving an extreme, but serious example.

Yes and it was uncalled for and inappropriate.

Yes, but it made me respect your views on the subject less.

Well, judging by your post before mine you didn't respect the views of those who opposed the smilies much anyway, so I guess I did not lose much. The thing is that I will not sit here and think a lot till I can come up with some politically correct and mild example to showcase my opinion on why not everything that is done for the good of the site is necessarily goodand should be accepted by everyone without any signs of criticism. Thank God we all are allowed to voice our opinion as we do not live in the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany, right? The swastikas example was the first that came to my mind and it was good enough to explain my views. Extreme, indeed, but then again not more extreme than saying that the site is doomed if we go on arguing with each other a little, a while ago.

It's not my place to decide anything I was merely pointing out that for all the work Eagle and bABA do all that ever occurs around here is more complaining. Somebody doesn't like this and somebody is mad about that. That is all I was saying, that I wish sometimes people would lighten up a little and just relax.
And I hate people comparing anything to Nazism or the Holocaust. Just a pet peeve.

I.e. just accept everything with no second-guessing or criticism?
On a developing site like this, criticism is very much needed in the strife to continuosly improve everything. The admins are not omniscient, sometimes they are wrong about things, sometimes we are.

I'm not saying don't comment. I'm saying don't lash out and whine and bitch. Sorry but MikeQ.'s post sounded very immature unlike some of the others which at least commented.
There is a massive difference between offering constructive criticism and bitching.

Well, he did start off with constructive criticism and a mere request for the old smilies to return. I think if we made a poll, the majority would want them back. The thing is that I would never accept something an authority person has done just because it was an authority person. They are humans as well and humans make mistakes. That is why I would second-guess the actions of admins if I feel critical of them and the same was about me and my teachers. I wouldn't accept/follow everything a teacher has said just because he/she is my teacher.
I know how much effort Eagle puts into this site and I know that he pays for it very well, so no need to be reminded of that for the 20th time. However, if I do feel that something's not right with the technical details of the site, I feel I have a right to express my complaints and so do all others.

Eh, I wasn't really commenting on you per se Arthur. Your Nazi comment was a little over the edge but meh.
And hey, I can express my opinion too...

A right never denied to you, right? It wasn't a Nazi comment and I certainly didn't compare Eagle to a Nazi. That honor would much rather go to BOM's Sean. Just made an example, admittedly extreme, yet right on with its content.

Hmm, your Nazi-esque comment?

I would prefer: my comment alluding to a Hindu symbol infamously adapted by the Nazis during World War II as a means to express that asthetic doesn't always mean good, aye?
