Does this happen often? I know a lot of Disney movies are made into TV shows... but not much else.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding

theres at least one a year
I have a tv book that has everyone listed.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer started that way, too. It wasn't a popular movie, but became very popular as a TV show.
I almost forgot about My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I watched the first episode, and it was terribly bad, and I wasn't surprised to see it axed so quickly.

Maverikk I saw at the video store yesterday Crash Unrated version is that your crash or is that the nc17 one from 1996?

Actually, the unrated version was the despicable 1996 film (featuring people who have car accident fetishes). The 2005 film is not on video yet.
