Congrats, baumer!
On another note, I am disturbed by the lack of minority hirings. As an African American, who can I look to when I need help? I am slightly retarded too, and would like to see a retarded moderator that I can relate to... eh, never... mind I forgot about baba. As a girl, I would also like to see more females too. The ACLU might have to be called to look into your hiring practices.

Well, we were looking into hiring tittie magee, but (s)he flaked on us and never made a repeat appearance.
edit*** Congrats again Dan. I know the process that went into this, and your name was one of the first ones that came up. I knew you had time constraints and was worried you'd turn it down. Nice to see you didn't.
So, is it you I get to bug constantly about moving threads into foreign/indie??
j/k
I don't bug the mods and admin tooooo much. Just a teenie bit..about everything. Cause I'm nosy. But I'll be good.

Well, it came to my attention that when this was brought up to you, both the movie station and movie-fever were brought up to you, and you were asked what happened. The next thing I know, I'm getting an apology at the forums. Was that just because you wanted this?

Mav, to ease your worries his apologies weren't genuine, he had nothing to do with his selection.
I did.
This happened way back in April after I stepped off. I consistently kept bugging admin about what was going on in the mod forum because I couldn't get the hang of not seeing it anymore. Anyways, since all the mods and admin knew I was still invested, they started coming to me with conflicts, etc. There was a huge impasse a long while ago (weeks? months? it was before I finished the semester, so probably early May), and I was trying to act as a go between for several people. It was decided at that point that there needed to me a "head mod" because the admin needed more time to work on the main site, but didn't want the members to feel that we were going the route of not having a present admin/mod system that just swooped down randomly on occasion. So we decided we needed a head mod that would help facilitate discussions and act as a go between when there were conflicts, etc.
I suggested three names. Dan was one of them. I'll gladly reveal who the other two were if anyone wants, since I think they should be considered for future positions if the place grows exponentially anyways.
All three were interviewed (or at least two that I know of, because I was nosy and kept discussing it). The choice came out of the interviews plus, of course, the willingness to take the particular position on. So its been a long time and not really initiated by any of the potential candidates, but rather myself.
So yeah, I think when Baumer felt bad about it, it was solely because it had been occupying his mind for awhile, and he really wanted to apologize for what he thought was a lack of investment on his part that negatively affected you. I thought it was quite genuine, since he wasn' trying to make himself seem any better for it, but was just trying to acknowledge that he feels bad for not stepping it up at a time when some of you guys had plans to.

Thanks Dolce.
The thing is Mav, I apologized to you because I didn't realize how much it seemed to have hurt you when I bowed out. But if I knew this is the kind of response I would have gotten down the road, I never would have done so. Shit happens in life at times and the decisions we make are ones that we have to live with. I guess I never had the passion or teh techie knowledge to open up the site that you worked so hard on. So yes, it did bother me and that is why I apologized. I'm 33 Mav, I'm not 10. The apology was sincere and seeing as I have never met you and proably never will, I had no reason to apologize to you except that it had to be done because I was wrong. But I am not going to start lending credibility to your conspiracy theory. It's not like I'm getting paid to do this Mav. I am doing it because I like it here and I am here often and I can make a difference. Don't be so smug as to think that much of the world, internet or otherwise, revolves solely around you. I made my piece with you, I don't have to defend myself now a second time. You can believe whatever you want to believe Mav, hell go record a song about it. I really don't care at this point. You want to question my credibility? That is your perogative. But I was sincere and it had nothing to do with a position as a mod at KJ. ](*,)

And thanks to everyone who is congratulating me. I will be pretty much invisible when it comes to moding. I'll only do what is necessary. But if you want me to make some of the nasty decisions, then no problem. rink:

Well I doubt Baumers apology had anything to do with his wanting this position.
We never really asked him about his and your relationsip, rather were more concerned with the flaking out, and why it happened, and how to be sure it wouldn't happen here.
To be honest, your guys personal relationship had no bearing, and I could care less weather you despise him, or love him. He knows this, and because of it, I would assume his apology is genuine, I know it caught me by suprise.

Thanks. But that syllable break down does nothing to help me pronounce your name.

Well, I don't subscribe to the shit happens philosophy, baumer, and I never asked you for an apology. Your whole attitude of "oh well, shit happens" tells me that you could care less, after all, the internet doesn't revolve around trust, honor, respect, friendship, or anything important like that.

You're so melodramatic Mav. Let's just leave it at that. I don't want to say anything that might start something like an avalanche. But you are so off base here. And it's sad really. I actually feel sorry for you.

In retrospect, your obessession with Italian cinema, your Italian name, and that Italian in your avatar all should have been dead giveaways.
