Also 1975 is kindof a wierd year so I think you might have to give some examples. As lots went past that 1975 date.
The only ones I can think of are
MASH
Twilight Zone
Star Trek

Okay guys, tomorrow I will start a brand new thread about this, and we'll have the official list. Voting starts immediately after I post, and we'll etch out a deadline for when nominating ends.

Quick question, though: For writing and directing, are we just nominating shows, or are we nominating actual episodes?
I've got a couple more episodes of Lost to go, but other than that, I'm ready. Let's do it. You nominate single episodes. And for the acting, I know some people disagree cuz it will be too confusing, but I insist we do Best Actor/Actress in a Comedic/Dramatic Role rather than Best Actor/Actress in a Drama/Comedy.
I don't really like that idea, but... eh. Whatever.

Me either. I don't see why we can't just stick to Emmy standards to make it less confusing.
With all these jumbled categories, it might make voting more of a chore than a pleasure.

Considering that people are bothered by the 2 writing / directing awards.
Here's a suggestion for 2 replacements.
*** Your Favorite episode *** that narrows it down and makes it easier.
*** Your Most Missed Series *** will Seinfeld win - a 1 year category to start off the awards. Maybe can be also put into the Hall of Fame.
Out of here as those are only suggestions - Bye for now.
******************************
Just moved around some - I think the categories should be grouped.
It you like you can still move around some more.
Drama
Comedy
Animated
Reality/Game
Talk Show
Opening Sequence
Season/Series Finale
Writing (8 per category)
Directing (8 per category)
Actor Drama
Actor Comedy
Actress Drama
Actress Comedy
S. Actor Com.
S. Actor Dra.
S. Actr. Com.
S. Actr. Dra.
Reality/Game Show Contestant
Guest Star (8 per category)
First Annual "Name of Award Show Here"'s Hall of Fame Award. Inducting a classic show with the majority of the vote. Qualification: A show that ended it's run by the year 1975.
For the Hall of Fame Award. My input or idea is that we make one this year for 1 show up until 1975. The following year we can the award for Hall of Fame TV Actor and Actress until 1975. The year after, we can do a show from '75-'00 and then TV actor and actress for those years. What do you guys think?
If no one objects, let's get on with it. How many do you want us to nominate per category; I mean send it for the nomination process? And when will be the deadline? I'll help in any tabulation, if necessary.

Yeah. Isn't the official name for the category "Best Actor IN a Drama Series..." so it shouldn't matter if the character has more funny moments - as long as they're in a Drama show, they'll be in the Drama category.
I see in various internet boards "Mary Lynn rajskub for Supporting Actress in a Drama." Eventhough her role is clearly the antithesis of Jack Bauer (and meant as a light/comic distraction), she'll be under Drama.

All right I easily cave in to the actor/actress ordeal. It will be categorized under the show's comedic or dramatic label.
It seems that's the majority, so we'll stick with that.

Okay, and what about the writing and directing? What will we go with there?
And are there ANY other problems to deal with? I want to know now.

Well there hasn't been any objections yet to the episode rule. So if no one posts in defiance, let's go ahead with that.
And no, I don't think there is anything else. I was expecting some more feedback and input on the Hall of Fame idea, especially on my qualifications, but if no one disagrees, let's get on with it.

I don't know if I'll even be motivated to enter if there's not a hottest award . And they would have to be separate ones for male and female because if it's combined it's not fair since there are more heterosexual males here than straight women (or women in general - not many here) and gay men so obviously it would all be women that would make the cut, which isn't fair to the rest of us. So that's why it would have to have two separate categories and not be grouped together as one. And also, while some may think it's a silly category I think it's fun and if people don't want to participate in it they don't have to. I never see hottest categories anywhere else so why not? There will be people that will participate in it.

Well, once nominations come in, I'm willing to bet that it's not going to be a really big event (like the Poster Awards, Movie awards, etc.), so I should have it covered. If I do need any help, I'll be sure to ask, Raffiki. Thanks muchly for the offer.
Look out for the official category announcement later tonight, with nominations being taken immediately after that thread is created. Anyone willing to put an advertising link in their signature to attract more people on the forum to the awards would be greatly appreciated.

I'm here, I'm here. Sorry everyone. Hopefully Sunday is a better day for announcing the official start of nominating, eh? One last question before I do this: do we want to nominate individual episodes for writing and directing, or just the shows themselves?

I still think that favorite episodes is a better choice than the above.
How many people are going to narrow it down to writing and directing but picking a favorite episode is alot easier and even better.
Just IMO.

That leaves us short one category, though. Dammit, I thought we got all this sorted out.

Maybe both favorite comedy and drama episodes.
Just IMO.
