yeah, get rid of logo. Also, maybe best new series. It'll between Lost and DH for the win, but it might be cool to see what else gets nominated.
Also, do animated shows like FG and The Simpsons also count for comedy?

I'd replace the logo one with the best opening like some shows have. In reality shows, they introduce the characters, and Lost and Desperate Housewives have a short opening.

Yes, I knew Best Logo should go. Opening for a show sounds good for a replacement. Any other suggestions? And how about a date to start nominating? Anyone who could put it in their signature once the nominating starts would be great. I know most here in this thread will nominate, but I do want some more involvement besides five or six people.

Sure they do.
I'm wondering about "variety" shows like Chappelle's Show and The Daily Show, though.

If it's in some way classified as a comedy, it can get a comedy nomination. Personally, I'd love to see something like The Daily Show get a Best Comedy nomination.
Now, certain shows are classified as dramedies. Off the top of my head, I would say Desperate Housewives and Gilmore Girls are more comedy oriented, so they'll go there. Any others that might go either way?

I think Best Theme and Best Logo can be scrapped and just replace it with Best Opening Sequence. That category is also good because only new shows can get nominated (or old shows that changed their opening sequence) which limits us to the ones that are memorable.

I was thinking of something more along the lines of 'Favorite Reality Show Contestant/Team' or something.
But I dunno.

Okay, there are lots of category ideas that are looking nice, but I want you guys to post your three favorite new category ideas, okay? I think it's for the best if we nix Best Logo and Best Theme, and what about combining Guest Actor and Actress? Maybe not, I don't know. But, just post your three (if more, go ahead, but try to limit it) favorite new category ideas, and we will all discuss which stay and which go.
And, what about the old categories? Should Logo and Theme go? Anything else? Should be combine Guest Actor and Actress? What about combining the writing categories? Let me know!

I actually like all of Goldie's, the only ones I don't really care either way about are the TV series from the past and character from the past. If I have to choose three I like the Sexiest Male and Female categories, as well as Favorite Talk Show Host and Favorite Talk Show.
Definitely do away with the logo category, but hopefully we'll still have one for theme song and opening.
And Gilmore Girls is a dramedy and one that's pretty hard to just put in either the comedy or drama category. I guess if I had to choose I'd say Drama, since it's a drama at heart.

Yeah, best opening sequence is good.
Let's not get too MTV Movie Awards, so I say no to 'hottest.' And I don't think we need 400 categories, so I'd say best talk show would be a good pick out of rest on the list.

What if he was talking about MadTV, and those "after hour" specials on Cinemax

Yeah guys, I think you're all doing a great job on the categories, but I want it kept simple. Does anyone really want to spend a good hour trying to choose six nominees for 50 categories? Best Opening Sequence and Best Talk Show brings it to 20, and I like 20 as a number. If there is anything anyone wants removed from the list, to allow something else, let me know. I think we might combine talk show with variety show. Maybe? Anyone? Or, we could merely allow the funniest of variety shows to shine through to the Best Comedy category.

Hey guys. I'm glad we're doing this awards show again. I'm posting from an Internet Cafe in Armenia, so I'll be more active when I come back in 4 days.
I have yet to see the LOST and ALIAS finale and then I'll be in full swing.
Here is what I think we should have...
Best Drama
Best Comedy
Best Animated Show
Best Reality/Game Show
Best Actor in a Comedic Role (I liked Mr. X's idea of separating a role from the show)
Best Actor in a Dramatic Role
Best Actress in a Comedic Role
Best Actress in a Comedic Role
Best Supporting Actress in a Comedic Role
Best Supporting Actress in a Dramatic Role
Best Supporting Actor in a Comedic Role
Best Supporting Actor in a Dramatic Role
Best Male Guest Star
Best Female Guest Star
Favorite Reality/Game Show contestant
The following 4 we can include, but I have a feeling it may get too formal or Emmy-ish with these. IF you guys really want them, it's fine, but I feel this is more of a relaxed forum. not too caught up in details, or you can combine Comedy and Drama
Best Writing for a Comedy
Best Writing for a Drama
Best Directing for a Comedy
Best Directing for a Drama
Best Talk Show
Best New Show
Best Opening Sequence
Best Cliffhanger/Finale (maybe a series' finale could get some support here)
Best Promo/Style
That's about 24 Categories, or 20 if you nix the writing and directing.
I think those are great. I took basically most of what everyone mentioned. The only one I really added Goldie had already mentioned, Best Cliffhanger.
Now, let's start with the support.
I'm rooting for Nip/Tuck, LOST, Desperate Housewives, Jack and Bobby, and ALIAS!!!

Well MTV Movie Awards doesn't have hottest . And I like it. Besides, does EVERYONE have to pick 6 for every category? You wouldn't think so since you'd end up with at least six different ones anyway, so I don't think it would be a big deal. I'd be more than happy to think of ones for each category. It would be fun. And me loves the idea of hottest!

Well, there's plenty to process here. Does anyone want to combine comedy and drama for writing and directing? Perhaps just let them drop completely?
These are the ones I want to stay definitely:
Drama
Comedy
Animated
Reality/Game
Actor Drama
Actor Comedy
Actress Drama
Actress Comedy
S. Actor Com.
S. Actor Dra.
S. Actr. Com.
S. Actr. Dra.
Opening Sequence
Male Guest Star
Female Guest Star
That is a set 15 that I absolutely want to stay, and I really don't see any objections. That leaves 5 more spots (I'm keeping it at 20, because if I start adding everyone's ideas, we're going to have way too many). We could combine comedy and drama for writing and directing (which would equal two more categories), or we could just let those drop completely.
And for voting, I want six nominees, but you guys can probably do with just three per category and we'll probably have enough for six. I do encourage to fill in six nominees per, so we don't have many ties.
