Post 4th Annual Excellence in TV Awards (aka WorldofKJ TV Awards)
Okay. Three years ago, I started this little TV awards deal of my own on a completely different forum from BOM. It got some good participation. BOM was home to the ceremony the last two years, and last year, I was proud of what you guys were able to accomplish. So, this year, the new home to my own creation, the 4th Annual Excellence in Television Awards, is the World of KJ. Surprised? No? Oh well, I tried.

Anyway, I want to just start a bit of a discussion thread, before I unveil the categories that you can vote in. You'll supply me with the nominees. Six nominees per category. Once the deadline is reached (and I really hope you all participate, especially my fellow TV addicts), I'll announce the nominees, and you vote for your favorite in every category! Yes, just like any award show we have done.

I'll just keep this open tonight for any questions or comments, and then tomorrow I'll list off last year's categories. We had 20, so perhaps we might want to make that number smaller, or maybe even bigger. Maybe a few changes here and there to the categories themselves, too. We'll obviously keep the basics (Drama, Comedy, Actors in Dramas, Supporting Actresses in Comedies, etc etc etc.), but I want this to be about all of us, so you guys will be making the category list official, nominating the shows and actors, and voting for the winners!

SO, in a nutshell, just post any thoughts right now, or mainly any questions, and I'll post last year's category list tomorrow. Sound good? Okay.

Oh, and it's likely this won't end with a big award night. I don't see a swarm of voters for the nominations, and even when you all vote, it probably won't be big enough to warrant a night where we name the winners for each category separately, with each category warranting their own KJ presenter and whatnot. If you guys think we could pull it off, I'll go for it, but only if people would want it. Otherwise, when all is said and done, I could just post the winners separately. Anti-climatic? Yeah, kind of. But like I said, you guys can decide on mainly everything.

Any questions that you want to ask privately, PMs can work, but you can also instant message me on AOL.

AOL Screen Name: acoldrevenge

Okay... enough talking from me. Ask any questions, post any comments, and I'll present last year's category list tomorrow!

~X~

I'm assuming we're just going by Emmy standards, so dramedies like Gilmore Girls and Desperate Housewives are in the comedy category?

That is up to you guys! Any shows that you think can be classified in both categories, list them here and we'll try to come to a deal on them.

Although, I got to tell you guys... I'd rather call it something like "Excellence in a Supporting Comedic Role" for the acting categories. Because, if Adam Brody gets nominated for his comedic performance, but The O.C. is classified as a drama, I don't think it's fair to classify him in a dramatic category. So, the actors will be based on their own performances, the shows themselves based on their strongest trait, whether it's drama or comedy.

Well, maybe not the EXACT same. I'm not sure on the dates, but we'll go with June 1st, 2004 to May 31st, 2005. And, the number of episodes that aired per show has to be one. That's all. I doubt any shows that aired for two weeks will be remembered for the awards, but if they are, they'll get nominated. So, make sure to go ALL the way back to the summer of 2004. Don't forget those shows!

I didn't include one particular category last year, but I think I'll add it this year: something along the lines of "Excellence in a Made for TV Movie/Television Special", so that can be made for TV movies, television specials, television mini-series, you name it. But, I won't get into acting for those. I want to keep this simple.

And while final notice while my post count goes up, feel free to also list any "For Your Consideration" campaigns for certain actors and actresses that may get overlooked.

That will probably get kind of confusing, I would think. It might be easier just to put everyone from a show in that show's category, because whether a role is comedic or not is a thin line. But whatever works best is fine with me.

Okay, sounds good. It's up to everyone here, like I said. Although, I do hope more people participate.

I'm game! Sounds fun. Just don't forget GILMORE GIRLS and VERONICA MARS people! ;) Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, and Kristen Bell will get noms from me for sure! I'll also nominate Eliza Dushku for TRU CALLING, which was a great show that will be missed. And I'll definitely nominate Katherine Heigl for GREY'S ANATOMY.

Maybe there could be a separate reality category, because shows like American Idol, Survivor, The Amazing Race, etc. don't really fit into either drama or comedy. Those three shows seem really popular here, and it would be good if we could include them in someway.

Yeah, there should be a separate reality category for them.

Don't worry, reality is getting its own category. It's about the hottest day of the year thus far here, so I'm going to relax for a bit, but I'll post last year's category list later today.

And, if you want to nominate "Yes, Dear", nominate it. Nominate ANYTHING that fits the categories that you want nominated, okay?

Okay. But, really.

Yes, Dear is unacceptable.

It really is. I can't watch that show anymore without being blinded.

If you want to nominated something from CBS, go with Everybody Loves Raymond, Two and a Half Men, or the King of Queens. And for the love of God, nominate Peter Boyle!!! He deserves it more than any other comedic actor.

I watched the first couple of seasons of YES, DEAR and thought it was really funny and entertaining. I don't really watch it anymore, however I did watch an episode last night because my parents were watching it, and it was pretty good. It's better than the overrated EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND. Not everybody loves it! ;)

Okay, that was last year's list. Obviously, some changes can be made. I assume we'll keep the acting categories, and the four big TV show categories (animated, reality/game show, comedy and drama), but other than that, you guys suggest what stays and what goes!

I think the category of Best Logo is probably unncessary. I mean, I can't really recall the logos of many shows by memory.
