did anyone see the ER ep where Carter goes to Paris....

it reminded me so much of 'before sunset' and I was wondering if anyone else noticed that.

Carter has only limited amount of time in paris before he has to get a plane back to chicago, and kem and him walk around paris talking about loads of different things.

I think even some of the same locations might have been used... nice little homage.

I'll be frank with ya: I love E.R and have Season 2 on Box Set with Season 3 on the way probably this week, but this show needs to be layed to rest.. Carters gone, the Cast they have currently sucks unbelievably, especially the one doctor with the Goatee.. You know?? The Punk Rocker?? ](*,) You've got to be shitting me?? If I were Carrie Weaver, I'd make him shave that off and look like a respectable doctor and make him dress like one to.. Anthony Edwards character is looking down from heaven and thanking the maker he's no longer with that staff.. 11 years is long enough..

I miss Anthony Edwards!!

I still really enjoy though show though- even with the lack of carter and the introduction of less than great characters-

so here is EKR's guide to why I still love ER...

Reason’s why I love ER …even after 11 years….

Reason 1: The stories:
Unfortunately I do think that the writers are running out of interesting arcs for the staff who work at county- but after 11 seasons it is to be expected! However the self contained episodic stories are still really good. They keep coming up with interesting plights for the poor patients and I still get surprised at the plot twists they sneak in.

Reason 2: The characters:
The stupid goatie guy is a bit annoying… but the others…
I still really like abby. She’s great. I think maybe she’s the character I most identify with- in some ways.
Frank- some of the lines he comes out with- priceless.
Neela- fav.character.ever! lol…. Love her sense of humour- so dry. More neela stories next season- Parminder Nagra is great- grown up a lot since ‘bend it like beckham’
Image
Pratt- silly name- but I like when the stories explore his different sides, i.e. when he’s not putting on his male bravado act.
I think at the end of the day the characters are very human- not walking stereotypes like in some shows. You can actually believe that these could be real live people.

Reason 3: The music:
Weird reason maybe?-
I just love how they use music in the show to compliment the scenes. The music is always so appropriate to whats going on on screen- even if you would have never considered using it. For example the Buddhist chant going on in ‘when night meets day’ whilst they try and rescue an impailed fireman as the eclipse happens, and in another part of the hospital Romano is having his arm amputated etc.
I also liked ‘badagio for strings’ playing as Luka prays for his life in the congo (season 10’s - the lost)
Image
Also- this season Greenday’s ‘give me novacaine’ was used to brilliant effect!
There are many more examples- but I can’t be bothered typing- and I suspect no one cares anyway…

reason 4: the locations:
another weird one you say? ER is set in a hospital. true!
however when they do venture out- amazing! in africa, in paris, in London... really makes you feel you're there- instead of a tv set of the week!

reason 5: shooting
they keep coming up with different ways to shoot things and experiment with different styles- its always brilliantly shot!!
I especially liked the ep that was shot almost entirely in real time- and some of the shots were good in that ep aswell-e.g. the colour corrections and things.. very pretty.

The list of reasons go on- however it gets more boring…

So

Reason’s that could have stopped me from watching
1.Mark dying (Anthony Edwards leaving)
2.Elizabeth leaving (awwww I’ll miss you Alex Kingston) it was coming coz they ran out of interesting stories for her character after mark died – she helped romano deal with his arm thing for a bit- but definately after that…. No more good stories.
3. Romano dying – loved him- he was the guy everyone loved to hate- he had some cracking lines e.g. “Trying to raise the dead, Lizzie? Go directly to the morgue, do not pass go, do not collect $200!”
and “(Elizabeth is crying in the lounge) Romano: What's wrong, is Prince Harry in rehab again?”
also- “Why mess with natural selection? Nothing like a good influenza epidemic to thin the herds” heheh!!
At least he had a good death!!! Lol

4. some of the characters are getting a bit boring now- carter, but he’s gone now anyway…. Kovac is a bit boring since they put him with Sam. And goatie boy- dr Barnett is a bit annoying – I’m a doctor, no I’m a musician, I’m a doctor- make your mind up- Bored NOW!

so there you have it- my main reasons....
I'll be watching ER next season- it needs to keep doing whats its doing in terms of stories- but could do with some fresh ideas for characters and things.
fingers crossed it doesn't dissapoint!!! 8-[
