So far, I'm 0-1-1.
I completely blew xXx2, and was kinda, sorta close on Kicking and Screaming.

Either that, or the "Let's point and laugh at Zingaling" thread will make it's return after a two week hiatus.

That's the nicest thing you've ever said to me, torrino.

I read it.
Analysis for a movie I have absolutely no interest, and all because forums weren't accessible.
I'd say lower for everything. Lower opening, lower 4-day, lower legs, lower total.

Analysis was good. Opening seems about right but i'd put it a little lower and total is spot on.

It's possible, though...
I just don't think there's enough room for The Longest Yard. There's enough hype, but I can't really put this into the equation since the movie is competing against two movies that are guarenteed success. If we had to follow the unwritten rule that Americans only can spend so much on a movie, that pretty much makes The Longest Yard the weakest link.

Logic does dictate that one must falter and I guess I don't have any reason to suspect it won't be The Longest Yard. On the other hand, I think I'm the only one here who is questioning the mass appeal of Madagascar.
So the issue is, will more kids and families watch Madagascar or will more young adults and men watch The Longest Yard?

But then both could be hits...
Star Wars should win the weekend. There's going to be a number of people who would see it out of the three anyways, plus, when Madagascar and/or Longest Yard sell out, Star Wars will likely be the second option.

I wouldn't be surprised if Longest Yard beats Madagascar next weekend.

Things may have changed now.

I don't know why people are saying there is no room for The Longest Yard. I mentioned that it has some competition, but enough to give it such a low opening weekend?
Anyone remember the Memorial Day weekend of 2004? The Day After Tomorrow and Shrek 2...

The Longest Yard's theater count is 3,634, making it the second widest release for Paramount (behind MI2), and the 16th widest release ever.

=D> The lowest I think it can do over the 3-day is about $30,000,000 (Lemony snickets). I'm gonna predict $46,000,000/56,500,000

If it didn't have Madagascar and ROTS to come up against, I'd say a $45+ million opening would be assured. This is the widest release for a Sandler comedy ever and it is getting 3 or more screens at all big theatres. The competition will hurt it, though. However, it will still open to $35+ million 3-day, I think. So more or less, I agree with your analysis, Zing.

I'm a bit lower for the opening, but I'm prediction nearly the same total and drops. The thing is Zing that you are underestimating the multiplier with those drops. With summer weekdays it will easily have a multiplier over 3 unless it drops quite a bit more then either of us are predicting.

Well, it's probably going to drop around 50% the second weekend because of Post-Memorial Day. But, yeah, maybe it will do 3x.
