Post Batman Begins: Can it open similarly to The Hulk?
I know Batman opens on a Wednesday so, by that, I mean: if it opened on a Friday, could it open similarly to Hulk? Or: if hulk opened on a Wednesday, could BB open similarly to it?

Batman is a "superhero" with a lot of fans, it seems, and this new movie is clearly a new beginning, so I don't think the poor reception of the last Batman film will matter much. However the trailers have shown it as a very, very dark film (color-wise) and that's not a good thing boxoffice-wise. It seems almost too serious.

On the other hand, The Hulk's trailers also portrayed it as a pretty serious movie (a lot more than Spider-Man, anyway) AND before it came, word on the street was not very nice to it. It still managed a $62M opening.

So, can BB perform similarly?

Unlike the Hulk, the bad buzz didnt start during the superbowl. I recall people I know said that the CGI looked like it was from a videogame since they sent an unpolished trailer.

I do not know why people kept referring to Batman Begins as the Hulk just because they are serious movies. Cant people think back what Superman 1 was like and we didnt see him don the costume till one hr into the movie. That movie if you go by adjusted inflation comes out to be 320 million by todays numbers

Hulk was coming off of the superhero craze. It was one of the first after Spider-Man so everyone wanted more and more and more until you have movies like ... Elektra.

Batman Begins' run will be unique. It will be interesting if the audience is up for a superhero movie besides Spider-Man. I don't think it has a chance at $200 million though, even X2 couldn't get very far past $200 million and that had much more widespread appeal.
