What a great launch! It has had the best PTA in the TOP 12 in the weekend of its release, beating out The Interpreter and In Good Company. I expect expansion to follow and the movie will end up with at least $1 million over there.

Yes its doing very well here. Finally watched Downfall tonight and I found it quite fascinating! The theatre (a more arthouse type) was about 80% full for the 9.30pm showing - about as full as Million Dollar Baby when i saw that in the same theatre.

I wont go into my full review now - but a very good film that seemed to get better even though we knew what was coming up. Im generally interested in War films so i was interested in seeing this film as it shows events in WW2 from within the Hitler camp.

My grade: A

Will be back with a lengthier review.

February 25-27 - $62,817 - +29.2% - 4 - ($15,704) - $102,207

March 4-6 - $62,817 - +245% - 9 - ($9,019) - $219,419

March 11-13 - $329,539 - +306% - 46 - ($7,163) - $582,198

March 18-20 - $590,498 - +79.2% - 87 - ($6,787) - $1,387,295

April 22-24 - $242,983 - -25.9% - 168 - ($1,446) - $4,546,279

April 29-May 1 - $208,462 - -14.2% - 148 - ($1,408) - $4,874,303

Despite having lost another 20 theatres, the movie held on pretty well (just as most films did this weekend). The PTA dropped by a mere 2% which bodes well for the future run of the movie. As of now, I am pretty certain that it'll make at least $6 million, but I hope for more. It should stick around in more than 100 theatres for another 2-3 weeks at least.

I'm very glad you liked the movie. :) If you want to, you can join the lenghty discussion that has been on this movie here:

There are a few who like it a lot, but also some that dislike it.

Passed 5M. Suffered a relatively large drop the past weekend, so this looks like the final milestone it will pass. A very good run overall.

As xiayun has said, last weekend's drop has been pretty hefty and chances for it to cross $6 million now are very slim. Even though it's a good run, I must admit I was slightly disappointed (probably because I am personally biased because I like the movie). I just thought it would have some more potential. On the other hand it has already made $73,438,185 overseas, leading to a current worldwide gross of $78,532,175. With good runs in Italy and Australia as well as a Japanese release (widest release for a German movie in Japan ever) ahead, I believe it has a chance to make it past $85 million.

Well, with this pattern, it'll probably end up with just under $6 million. Decent gross, but I must say that I expected more.

April 15-17 - $365,811 - +19% - 102 - ($3,586) - $1,505,992

April 22-24 - $310,931 - -16% - 130 - ($2,392) - $2,119,686

May 20-22 - $45,566 - -44% - 52 - ($876) - $3,092,453

Looks like the movie is on its track to gross around $3.3 million in UK which would make UK one of its biggest territories thus far. Not bad, I'd say.

Hmmm, looks like the distributor totally dropped the ball on this one in Australia. It has been having amazing drops and great PTA over four weekends without any expansion and now that some of the expansion has actually started it seems like it's too late.
