Great for Crash, just a bit more than what I predicted.

What a drops, compared to the ones we've seen the last couple of weeks.
If KOH doesn't manage to gross 20 million this weekend, I still expect it to make 200 million international in its entire run.

It dropped theaters for a reason though.
Expect further theater sheds next weekend because of....you know.
Horrible weekend.

That's respectable for CRASH.
Hitchhiker's Guide was very much expected and Amityville Horror's drop was a long time coming; they're lucky it came this late in the run.
Everything else was okay/not too good.

Just terribly drops for the holdovers. At least for me, it's quite unexpected. I thought there would be a lot of people like box, who just finished exams and said he would go to theater for the first time in months. The top 10 total will actually drop to a new low.

Bad weekend. Hitchhiker's drop was sort of expected with the fanbase and all. This should top out with over $50m.

I posted this in the Saturday thread.
I'm trying to locate the article online but EW has a extensive write up in this week's magazine about the state of the box office and the great white hope known as Sith.
Week ending May 1st is 2005's 10th straight drop-off in weekend box office
Year to date ticket sales are down 6%
Longest losing streak since 11 bad weekends in 2000
Third straight year that fewer people are going to the movies.
A lot is riding on Sith.
If Sith somehow fails to explode out the gate, summers might start to look different.

Just checked the top 10 totals of the same weekend in previous years, and this could be lowest since 1998, when Deep Impact opened and the top 10 grossed a bit less than 70M.

The same weekend last year everything dropped 40%+ too, but I thought that it was Van Helsing that caused those drops.
Hopefully mother's day will help some movies drop lower on sunday.

I find it unlikely that the only movie projected to drop under 30% on Sunday is Kingdom of Heaven. That won't hold $20 million.
