Pretty good for House of Wax, disappointing for Kingdom of Heaven, and holy crap! Hitchhiker's Guide dropped like a rock.

No, not a flop, but a disappointment.
Although, I was expecting $7m, from the small number of people I saw in theatres yesterday.

The question is:
Are things starting to look better and better for Star Wars??
Or should it seriously be worried!!

Better.
It could pull a Shrek 2 and take in all the audiences these films lost.

Wow. I knew Kingdom of Heaven would not pass 30 million but I did think House of Wax would do better than 15 million... Meh.

Come on though after Alexander and King Arthur - KOH isn't shocking.
KOH is much closer to the above movies
then to the crowd pleasers like Troy or Gladiator.
Big numbers from KOH was only wishful thinking.

Audiences are dying for a film to stand behind, to spread good WOM about, to see multiple times with friends and family.
I think Sith is that film.

Its shocking cause the summer crowd seems to have all gone camping .... I'm praying for ROTS now ...
Actually ROTS for me is the big one, along with Madagascar ... I think the grosses of those 2 will be the real indicators on the performance of the rest of the summer season

Indeed, we're still in the spring movie season, pretty much. Either Sith will break out and be huge, or it'll disappoint so many.. I don't really think there will be a middle-ground.

It IS horrible for Kingdom of Heaven. Not just disappointing. With Troy's multiplier it'd barely make $20 million over the weekend. There is a chance that there won't be a single movie with over $20 million this weekend. Insanely bad. It's not a crowd pleaser, the WoM won't be great. It probably won't even reach $60 million in total.
House of Wax...exactly as I expected. It will make around $13.5 million over the weekend, just similar to Ghost Ship/Thirteen Ghosts. So, Zing, do you still think my comparison was off?
Crash did okay, might pull in around $9 million over the weekend and over $40 million overall.
xXx: State of the Union held up relatively well, it'll make around $6 million over the weekend, more than most expected.
The Interpreter is up for a $8+ million weekend.
Incredible for Fever Pitch.
