Decent drop for Superman. Lousy for the openers. Great drop for F1 though. Glad to see wom is finally kicking in.

Re: I Know What You Did Last Smurfs weekend
I think this is a worse look for Summer than for Smurfs. Those other Smurfs movies that came out 5-10 years ago didn't exactly light up the box office. But Summer getting $13m opening weekend when Scream has had a hugely successful reboot in the last 5 years is a real humbling.
And being a kids movie Smurfs may end up with more than Summer when all is said and done.

Im not suprised by IKWYDLS bombing. The first one was the only hit and it was never a film that was culturally iconic like scream, the first one did well because Scream kicked off the mid 90s slasher craze, Summer was just riding its coattails.

This. They needed to repeat that formula and release this movie in between Scream 5 and 6. Maybe the movie is good but it did look really boring compared to the Final Destination reboot, 28 Years Later and especially compared to Sinners.

Middle of summer is also a terrible time to release a horror film aimed at high schoolers/ college kids, but the movie deserves it. Will still be a hit though with the low budget

Re: I Know What You Did Last Smurfs weekend
I'm a little surprised IKWYDLS didn't do better, but the first two aren't exactly beloved. Hopefully it is enough for a sequel, as the set up was pretty solid.
