Honestly a guy at work the other day said Trump was a Russian spy, or words to that effect, and I laughed. But his recent actions are starting to make me think otherwise. He has pulled out of the organisation that has an arrest warrant out for Putin. It's little things like this that prove that if he isn't a Russian agent then he is seriously compromised. Everything he does seems in Russia's favour, which is just fucking nuts. It is no different than if in 1942 the USA partnered with Nazi Germany.

And to think we ALMOST avoided this. If only it were two inches to the right, this problem wouldn't exist today. Crooks should have had actual target lessons. It might have all been so different if he had.

Trump and Putin’s worldviews and philosophies on life, politics, and economics have a lot in common. I honestly think Trump has more in common with Putin than he does with Democrats or most other Americans.

Apparently the Trump administration leaked sensitive classified war information to a journalist…

The foreign policy part of this administration is what frightens me the most as a US citizen. All the other non sense can be fixed with a new administration, but this can affect the safety of our own country.

Yes. They invited a journo to a Signal chat. The Trump administration is just like a group of people that met on a far-right Facebook Group. Utterly unprofessional, and implementing ideas as they come up with them instead of going through rigorous thought and planning and testing. This Trump 2.0 is not going to leave the world in a good place. I think it's time for Europe to ditch the U.S. for the next four years, and work on its own to solve problems. We do not need a mafia that cares solely about money being in charge of world security.

That's actually what Trump wants, the globalists hate him because they want pseudo World Government type cooperation with the US fully on board.

Perhaps, but the risk is the possibility of the end to global world peace amongst the world super powers.

No, it isn't. He just wants an excuse to tariff them and turn them into the bad guy for his domestic audience. He's a dictator, remember, and they ALWAYS blame outsiders for their own problems. Page 1 of the Dictator Rule Book.

Trump is Human; or Homo Sapien, which means one thing: “you’re with us or against us”. That’s what it means at the start, and that’s what it ultimately means.

Now like Romania lawfare is used to ban and jail Marine Le Pen by the European saviours of democracy. But my understanding is she was having trouble holding onto being the #1 of her party over this other guy Jordan Bardella, so if they can't find an excuse to arrest him it won't do them much good to have banned Le Pen.

I haven’t done my research. What crime did she commit?

Edit: she committed embezzlement. Sorry that’s pretty cut and dry

They're saying she hired people to work for parliament but since they did work for her party, it was misusing the public funds to pay them for it.

Sounds like bullshit. Even if they're technically guilty of that, blowing it up to 4 years in jail and banned from running instead of being some infraction thing is where the political motive comes in.

They know the political winds are blowing towards right wing anti-immigration parties and are trying to use lawfare to save themselves and because they think they know better than the "misinformed" voters.

I think the anti-immigration part will stick, but the whole Russian/Hungarian/Trumpian fascist angle where the governments are simplified to the whims of the executive over the courts and systems of law is going to keep the right populist movement from going too far. Winds are also shifting left too with desires for stronger worker rights and better government protections. This happens to couple with anti-immigrant rhetoric as to shore up a citizen base that reaps the rewards of their citizenship status. The Canadian elections have shifted dramatically left recently and the Left has huge victories in the UK and France

Well Pierre Poilivere got fucked by Trump like he’s an Eastern European model, but also seemed like the type of politician whose beliefs are what will get him elected, and he was the one dodging media like Kamala. Maybe a non politician liberal isn’t so bad compared to a conservative in politics 20 years.

I haven’t been following the Australian political scene like America, Europe, and Canada, but the conservatives lost seats there as well with a victory for the centre left. I really felt like the world political scene was poised for a major shift to the right over the past few years, but outside of the US it didn’t happen. I think Trump is to blame despite him being responsible for the shift right back in 2016 (although I actually think Putin is more of the reason). I think had DeSantis won in 2024 instead the GOP would be much more popular.

Gone with the Wind again (I actually didn’t ever even watch the movie yet).

Would probably have to be a supposed satire of sequels, or more specifically, of Hollywood releasing sequels at every opportunity including of older franchises or movies.

The UK elected PM from left wing party after 14 years of conservative, but doesn't that feel backwards? His personality seems more like conservative hardass you elect after the left wing ones, is moderate on trans and it looks like he's deporting as many people % wise as Trump. Likewise Carney is probably as right wing as 2021 Conservative candidate in Canada (that was the election where they tried going more left than usual, the opposite strategy of this election). The left wing parties may regain control, but I think the far left may have lost either way and ruined the political capital they had pre 2020.

And, of course, you could have some subplot about Trump, Windmills, and Birds in which he digresses and starts ranting about how Hollywood doesn’t make movies like that anymore.

Not far left, per se, but relatively “moderate”, or compromised, between “liberalism”, and socialism or feminism.

That authoritarian “atheism plus”, “Social Justice Warrior” branch of leftism did seem to lose. The Democrats have actually become very fragmented on contemporary social issue priorities.

FYI, I really don’t care; you can’t expect me to care for your irrational emotions, morality, and politics except through pity, or avoidance of being unnecessarily, excessively, prematurely, and/or deliberately cruel, malicious, or spiteful. But, not in a respectful way. And I absolutely will be decisive if necessary.

I consider the threat from, or represented by this forum, neutralized.
