I think the casting like this and Little Mermaid is meant to impress domestic young people more. So if it makes half as much as The Little Mermaid there that is certainly not good.

Disney and other organisations appease ideas from young people that are generated online. What they do not understand is that a) the people pushing these narratives were never going to see your movie anyway, and b) it's a lot fucking easier to post something online for free than to pay for a cinema ticket to watch your movie.

Companies that appease woke ideoligists really should fail because they're not focusing on what matters; the product. Make a quality film and EVERYONE will show up, not just a subdivision of a particular group.

I think they're all after "buzz" and people cheering for it on social media, so if they appease the Gen Z progressive views, it's supposed to improve their chance. I believe casting Erivo may have helped Wicked. But for 2010s brands like Disney remakes and MCU gravity may be too strong at this point and overall I find Zegler's personality to not be the right casting. She would've worked better as a more bandit version of Snow White I believe.

These new live actions feel cheap, even if this one had a budget that ballooned it certainly doesn't show on the screen. Everything in that Lilo and Stitch trailer besides Stitch... yikes.

Cap 4 will hit 200m. Probably will take a hit when Minecraft opens(That looks like a 50m+ opener at this point). Still should be enough. Next weekend is dead as well.

200m for Brave New World is not that bad and will probably look better once Thunderbolts comes out.

Crazy that Snow White 2025 can't make more OW than BATB Friday in 2017 unadjusted. The dailies don't look promising, thought it would get stronger matinees not a Sat. drop of 3%. Maybe Sunday is even lower for a $42M weekend.

Also Dog Man and Snow White getting within $7M of each other OW. One had a budget of $40M, the other $209M.

Interesting stat, Snow White performed better in red counties than normal for family/animated movies of similar size according to DHD. 43.5% admissions from red county cinemas. Overperformed in Dallas, San Antonio and Phoenix.

So despite all the controversies maybe people just don't care about Snow White as a character in general? Makes sense considering the animated movie is almost 90 years old.

Adult animation fans appreciate the original film, and aspects of it hold up beautifully, but it’s very slowly paced and potentially frightening and I can’t imagine a lot of parents are showing it to their young kids.

But the characters are still very popular in the parks.

Snow White is an old ass cartoon with very little cultural relevance today and this is like the twentieth “live action Disney remake” in the last 10 years. Mostly people are just over it — diminishing returns ala Marvel.

I def question and agree with you. It seems impossible to have those numbers so Disney may be fudging. I am glad on this site unlike that other and more famous box office forum site I can not say since there woke moderator would ban me for it. I am thankful for WOKJ and the free speech they allow.
