Re: The New Trailers Thread - Deadpool and Wolverine
The Menu/Jordan Peele type racial commentary horror that's on the nose enough for TikTok teens to get it seems to be the new genre. Hard to complain too much when it's horror and the alternative was going to be a bunch more possessed girl movies or whatever. Heel Tatum is cool.
I appreciate seeing a big budget trailer that actually seems interested in the relationships between characters instead of here's some CGI money spots.

Looks fantastic! If only it was not a part one.

This seriously looks headed for $300M+. It looks much better than I was anticipating and Grande's fanbase is huge. Add in Thanksgiving and awards season and it's just primed for a big run.

It might get some technical nominations but it’s not going to be a major awards player.

Eh, Wolfs. I expected better. Still gonna see it. Maybe the trailer just isn't cut well. Not sure. It just didn't wow me. They both got complacent with their coolness to the degree where they're not longer cool? something like that. Plus it's all set at night. It has an effect, and not a good one.
Moana 2 looks like a DTV sequel. Love the poster, though, lol. Disney really thinks the first is so iconic that a paddle and a hook is all they need.
And A Family Affair is just weird.

Felt this was actually one of the best trailers I've seen in a while. Efron and Kidman seems great in their roles. Not a fan of King, but think this could be the comedy of the year.

Every time Venom talks it makes me want to actually watch one of these movies
The horse was just wow, that was a money shot that works well!
I think where DP and Venom seem so much different and fresh despite being around for 5+ years is that their balance of comedy/story works as they full on embrace their campiness and don't take themselves too seriously.
Thor just missed on every direction there. Making Thor fat for humor feels so late 90s but instead of Murphy as The Nutty Professor put Hemsworth. Between Nutty Professor, Shallow Hall, Big Momma's House. Was just such lazy and dated comedy. Pretty sure Venom will see no superhero fatigue to impact it's performance much at all.
This tells me that a Gambit movie could be very compelling for MCU. I don't want to see a gazillionth Fantastic Four movie.

It looks much more expensive. Totally different to the first two, which seemed small and dark.

Piece by Piece just feels weird. It's like Pharrell knew nobody would be interested in his story so he chose LEGO to fool people. I can see a lot of unhappy people coming out of cinemas on opening weekend.
Nosferatu missed an opportunity to show him in the trailer. Maybe a shadow on the wall ... something!

That gives me Best Picture vibes. Not sure how strongly, and maybe if it were 2001 it would win, but in 2024 it's probably more akin to the chances The Fabelmans had at winning it.
Anyway, The Heretic has shot to the top of my anticipated list. Gives me The Menu / Barbarian vibes. Love Hugh Grant's latter career. He's having a blast.

I like how small scale it looks and it seems actually a pretty good part from Walhberg... but it seems a bit predictable too and the trailer doesn't leave much mystery unfortunately.

Re: The New Trailers Thread - Nosferatu
Why is there a new Hellboy trailer? The last one flopped because the fans said they wanted Perlman and Del Toro back. So instead they reboot the franchise again? Is it just a case of money laundering or something?
