 Re: June 19-22 Dailies
Bad for Flash. It's Monday estimate went down with actuals $2.3M!
While Spider-verse went up $700K.
Elemental also went up almost $2M. Given the Sunday/Monday hold, going to make an early prediction and say Elemental should recover to get past LY for maybe a 4X multiplier.
Flash isn't looking great. Looking like a rapid deceleration. How low can it go?!

zwackerm wrote: Could Elemental put gross The Flash? Lol Yes, I'd bet on it. Maybe it pulls a Puss #1 and has an insane weekend 2 hold since the OW was so depressed. Sun/Mon dailies are encouraging. It's got an empty weekend #2, a long weekend #3, and no real family competition for a while and a strong Cinemascore.

When this this Juneteenth thing retconned into being a major holiday in the US? I've been following box office for 17 years and I swear I'd never heard of it before 2020

It was certainly never a thing when it came to discussing nationwide US box office. Never ever heard it mentioned before the last few years on any forum like this. Box Office Mojo before the IMDB takeover which used to have all the long weekends accounted for never mentioned it either. The way the US media and Biden govt has suddenly adopted it is really giving 1984 "we've always been at war with Oceania".

 Re: June 19-22 Dailies
Well I mean it has been a thing For very long time, it is studied in most history classes (but it was a one in ear out the other for most) it wasn’t a holiday until BLM really took off, I like that Biden gets blamed for something he had very little to do with though, It was always a national thing. I’m sure the day women got the right to vote will happen in the next 100 years.
Box office wise I’m with you though, schools are off so I’d call it a minuscule effect for box office. I was confused by people saying 4 day this weekend too. I don’t see it ever really taking off as a movie day.

 Re: June 19-22 Dailies
Tuesday #'s
1 The Flash $5,275,000 $66,479,480 2 Spider-Man $4,700,000 -45% $290,386,032
Well at least The Flash will pass $100M. Spider-verse even with that level of drop really doesn't want to give up #1 that easily. It's now had 19 consecutive days over $4M so those summer weekdays are padding the grosses at this point.

Passed under bipartisan support with little action taken by Biden who is a president not the Senate. Only really affects banks and mail and maybe some places of work, which in turn could boost the box office. Not sure where this 1984 talk comes from, when, if anything, it is doublespeak like thinking to somehow put a bipartisan bill that passed in the federal legislature that made a new federal holiday somehow the responsibility of the executive branch of government.

 Re: June 19-22 Dailies
It's just passed $500M and feels like it has at least another $70M domestic for maybe $570M so $650M+ is definitely possible.
Here are the rest of the Tuesday #'s:
Elemental $4,954,340 $39,861,025
Elemental almost takes #1. It may be at a 2X multiplier by the end of the weekend! $100M+ is looking solid and based on these early #'s I'm feeling beating LY is doable.
Transformers $2,857,761 -60% $107,488,001
The Little Mermaid $2,268,011 -44% $257,984,611
Decent hold for Mermaid. It's sliding faster than Aladdin at this point but a $315M total is still doable.
The Blackening $848,144 $8,039,242
Guardians of the Galaxy $749,777 -35% $346,409,833
The Boogeyman $684,835 -43% $34,064,932
Fast X $279,455 -62% $143,089,520
The Super Mario Bros. Movie $118,455 -71% $572,392,785

 Re: June 19-22 Dailies
Preliminary Wednesday numbers:
1. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse ($3.8M) / $294.19M 2. Elemental ($3.5M) / $43.36M 3. The Flash ($3.08M) / $69.55M 4. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts ($1.9M) / $109.39M 5. The Little Mermaid ($1.8M) / $259.78M
Flash is missing $20m this weekend, isn't it? Maybe $17/18m? Just... Maybe Elemental does have a realistic chance of outgrossing it.

 Re: June 19-22 Dailies
Definitely not looking good for The Flash. I could have seen a 65% drop for it on a regular weekend but with the inflated Sunday from last week could drop even worse. In addition, it's daily is already down 21.6% from The Green Lantern despite a slightly higher opening. That dropped 66.1% to $18M in its second weekend. Green Lantern finished with $116,601,172 so if The Flash does drop worse than it, it's definitely looking like it will miss $110M. I wouldn't be surprised if this even possibly missed $15M for a 72.75% drop or worse this weekend. You know its bad when The Green Lantern looks impressive compared to your run.

For Comparison, Batman Returns first Wednesday was 5.7 million. Batman 89 was 6.6 million.

Career-ending mega bomb for Ezra Miller; regardless if it's the real reason or not, studios will think his behaviour is part of what kept people away. Back to creepy school shooter roles in low budget indies.

The superhero genre is no longer in, at least the traditional superhero flick, and DC is especially unpopular right outside of Batman.
